Do you ever...

happens to me all the time. There is actually a name for this, I can't remember it - of course- but it is [from what I have been told by literacy professionals] something along the lines of a type of dyslexia. It has something to do with your eye pulling letters from the word you see, and the words immediately surrounding that word [up, down and to the side] to make a new word that your brain reads. I'd like to know more, since I do it all the time and don't like it.

My son has this type of learning disability. His brain has to rearrange the letters to try to make sense of the word. It caused him horrific problems in mainstream schools. We had to get him into a different type of school where experiencial learning was the norm. The youngsters at this new school, learned by taste, touch, smell, and actually going out into the field to experience the phenomena they were learning about. Written words on a blackboard was pure frustration, for him. Too bad there aren't more mainstream schools offering alternatives. This school bankrupt me, but it was worth every moment of bewilderment. 

This happens to me occasionally.  But, what really drives me crazy is when I'm typing and I spell out in my head a word but I type something different.  I'm always having to go back and correct my posts.

I believe this is called word recall or word recognition and is actually one of our many symptoms.

I have had a hard time with this. I can remember obscure words but not the most obvious that I need to use everyday, so I end up sounding like a numbnut. Sometimes I can think of the word, visualize it but cant say it.

In roughly 2-3 months of college, I went from honor student, excellent paper writer to could barely write a paragraph due to this weird symptom! Now I cant pass a job interview! Very frustrating!
