New with menopause question

Hi, I'm a new member, 52 yrs. with osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease.  I've had lumbar and cervical fusion and pretty much hurt all the time just different degree's.  Anyway I have a question.  Did any of you ladies notice a increase in your pain levels about the time menopause started?  I have and was just curious if anyone else felt this way.  Maybe I'm just not able to tolerate it like when I was younger.

I'm not there yet but the ladies in my support group all said their fibro was worse when they were going through menopause.

Yes, definitely going into menopause and now since going through menopause. I remember my rheumy told me that it will get worse entering menopause, but will get better afterwards. Well, it never got better. I have often wondered if I'm just not as tolerant as I am getting older, I just don't know (I am 58). I do feel as though it has gotten worse throughout the years. I was diagnosed when I was in my mid 30s.

Thanks for the replies. Guess that answers my question. I'll have to wait and see if it gets better after I am finished.

I went thru menopause early... it all started when I was in my early thirties... And yes, even though I think my fibro started long before that, the menopause made everything worse.

Hi bsjaguar and welcome. All my problems started about the same time as peri-menopause so I don't know if one had anything to do with the other. I can't say my 50s has been a pleasure, I will be 59 next month so I'm hoping the closer I get to 60 the better things will get, right.

Yip! All my aches and pains started with menopause.Seems estrogen works like an anti inflammatory.
HRT love or hate it seems to relieve much of the pain.
Menozone natural HRT also seems to ease the aches.

Hi bsjaguar and Welcome-

I have had fibro a little over a year now, but started menopause in my early 40's. I will be 53 this month. Fought it for 4 yrs and then could not take all the hot flashes I had in one day and started on HRT. I am on the lowest dose of estrogen you can take. I was on a higher dose until it came out that you shouldn't be on HRT any longer than 5 yrs. 

That is an interesting question though and reading all the replies-

I am 49, i have fibro, ibs and gerds and tyroid nodules for the past 3 years, back problems and most days I can't function with the pain. I have not hit menopause but I know just before my period the pain is worse, I have noticed that my always 32 day cycle has not changed to 20 to 25 days for the past 5 months. Does that mean I could be going into menopause. Maybe that is why my fibro has been really bad for the past 6 months??

I can't believe how my legs and neck hurt.
