Danielle,
That 'splotchy' thing inside the mouth is likely something called 'lichen planus'. My cousin, who also has fibro, has it too but hers is way worse than mine. For me it's mostly a faint white spiderweb looking area on inside cheek and the tongue. I had my dentist and a specialist check it out and confirm it. It's just there... Cousin's doc told her it was fairly common in fibro folks. Here's more on the condition...

Oral lichen planus is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory condition affecting the lining of your mouth, usually resulting in characteristic lacy white patches. Oral lichen planus occurs most often on the inside of your cheeks but also can affect your gums, tongue, lips and other parts of your mouth. Oral lichen planus sometimes involves your throat or esophagus.
While oral lichen planus usually begins during midlife, it can occur at any age. An initial episode of oral lichen planus may last for weeks or months. But unfortunately, oral lichen planus is usually a chronic condition and can last for many years. Although there's no cure, oral lichen planus can be managed with medications and home remedies.
Oh my gosh, Chutzie, thank you SO much for this information!! Not only does it explain my tongue, it also explains the weird rash looking things I get on my hands!! I looked up pictures of both, and the oral lichen planus looks just like my tongue and the skin lichen planus looks exactly like what I have on my hands. Dr.'s have been trying for YEARS to figure out what the heck was on my hands and I have tried everything under the sun to get rid of it with no luck. Now I finally have a name for it and can talk to my regular Dr. about
it when I get in to see him. So thanks again!! It is so nice to finally know what the heck is going on! :)
