Hi Everyone,

Not only am I new here......I am newly diagnosed with Fibro. I have to admit that I feel some sort of relief although I also feel very scared, depressed, overwhelmed and have this thought of......"why me? I am a crazy medical case!"

I really just need to find somewhere to call home and network with others you understand what I am going through, mentally and physically.

I have been dealing with various issues for the last 8 years and have seen so many specialists for one thing or another but no one ever put it all together. I finally (on my own) scheduled an appointment with a Rhuematologist to see if they could give me any answers. I always just joked that I was falling apart at a young age. It all started when I was 26.

I have IBS, depression, anxiety, recurrent urinary tract infections, pain all over my body, endometriosis, a thyroid goiter, allergies (that I get shots for), recurrent ovarian cysts, memory issues and agorophobia.

I mostly just wanted to introduce myself tonight and do some exploring around the forum. I will be around and will probably have lots of questions. Hope you don't mind!

Hi neeters and welcome! We have many new ppl dx w/ FMS and we have many veterans. It can be a relief to get the dx and yet we all have days of feeling scared and overwhelmed. You are not crazy, we all go thru it.

Many of the ppl here have multiple issues, just like you. The ppl here are also wonderful, friendly, kind and so caring. It is a safe place to bring your questions. There are many of us who have had FMS since childhood, and some from teens and some at a later age.

I'm glad you introduced yourself and pls look all around the forum. Check out the 2nd thread on the pg called 'Fibro 101'. Our mods have compiled some great info, very helpful and informative. Ask any questions that you have, there is sure to be somebody who will have answers or suggestions.

Hi Neeters and welcome. 

I sure no how you are feeling right now, been there done that.  Yes, it is good to finally have a dx.  When I got mine, I was in denial for quite awhile.  You will get past it, and your life will keep rollin on, it just might be a little different.  You will have your good days and bad days and you will learn ways to cope.

This forum is exellent.  You will find that you're not alone.  I am fairly new here, but right away I felt like I belonged.  I never really understood that there were so many people out there just like me.  I mean I knew, it never truly sunk in.  I am so glad you found us.

Ask all the ?s you want and someone will most always no the answer.  Good Luck!!

Hi, Neeters, and welcome!  You have come to a good place.  We have wonderful members that love to help one another and we really do care about each other, too.

 

It's amazing what we have to go through to get a diagnosis of fibro.  Since fibro mimics lupus, Lyme, rheumatoid arthritis, and other miserable illnesses, we have to be checked out thoroughly.  We usually know what our diagnosis will be before the doctors!  LOL

 

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good information about fibromyalgia including a list of symptoms, and link to What Else Could It Be, and some gentle stretching exercises that really do help!

 

Read back posts and don't hesitate to ask questions.  We are here to help you.  I'm so glad that you found us and joined in.  I hope to hear more from you soon.

hi,
welcome to the board, i'm relatively new and this place has been a sanctuary. I was diagnosed years sgo but have had great difficulty accepting it. I am now and have learned to get on with my life no matter what happens.
