As I lay in my bed for the last 2 weeks due to a very bad flare (not beeing able to stand or walk), my husband is out shopping for a walker for me  to use around the house so I wouldn't have to crawl on all fours to get to the bathrooom, I decided what the heck! I might as well splurge and  get a few more wonderfull things that would make my life SOO much easier tongue . I am sure most of you have seen some of these  on TV.

For startes, a walker is just not cool enough! How about one of those scooters in bright pink.  Can't wait to race down the street with  the wind in my hair.  Next, lets go all the way and get that  delux model  step in bath tub for those sore muscules and joints. O.K. why stop there!! I might as well get that little recorder to help me remember my name or where I left my kids shocked . Right then, an ear amplifire, so I can hear anything at all, and ofcourse for those sleeepless nights when I can watch TV and not disturb my husband. Last but not least,DRUMM ROLL PLEASE!!! the CLAPPER! tongue .

You mean you haven't tried Dr. Franks Spray yet?  It cures fibro, you know, and tastes like duck pee.  And please consider the sneakers with the springs in the soles so you can jump around the house with ease...good for reaching those high places...unless you can't lift your arms to reach and then you can get one of those pincher things on a stick to grab that corn starch off the top shelf.  Oh...and don't forget the lounger that when you push a button, flings you out of the chair so you don't have to bend at the waist.  Might as well go whole hog!

Don't knock the grabber.  It was a life saver after my back fusion surgery.  I got so good I could take clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer.  I've worked in the health care field and there are alot of people that depend on them.  I would really like a clapper though.

Hi Sari, a clapper is device that you plug in and instead of getting up to switch off the lights you just clapp,clapp away!!!!      Clapp on , clapp off! yeah

Donna tried duck pee last time she came to visit me and my ducks, george and lucy.

I thought a clapper was something that helped you find your keys. I certainly could use a light turner onner and offer. Could have used a grabber today while picking up cow patties. Oh am I sore!

Sue, I think the clapper for finding your keys was a joke on Facts of Life. I think the girls invented some sort of clapper car key finder because I remember Trudi saying something like "oh no, I've lost my keys, what will I do?" *pause* "Clap my hands, I guess!"

I have no idea why I remember that, lol.

LOL Isn't it amazing? We can't remember what we wanted to buy at the grocery store, but we can remember an entire episode of a 1970s sitcom.

Sue, your cow patties story made me laugh SO HARD! Who would have guessed that's what the job would be at a butterfly sanctuary. LMHO!!! I'm sorry you're so sore. But thanks for making me laugh!!

Glad you all were entertained.  :-)    I did wonder why they couldn't just leave the cow patties behind to fertilize the soil???

I used to have this keychain that beeped when you clapped.  But it also beeped if you jostled it or anything near it.  My co workers and I thought it was hilariously funny to hide it in receptionist's keyboard drawer and giggle while she she tried to figure out what the stupid beeping sound was.

oh oh . . . that reminds me!  We had a toilet paper holder that played Love Me Tender whenever you pulled the toilet paper roll!  I wish I could find one now.  Whatever happened to that thing???

Apparently I don't remember it that well-I called the character "Trudy" when oh my goodness I should have known it was TOOTIE for heaven's sake..jeesh. rolleyes

And Sue, I'm sorry but the idea of a toilet paper holder playing me Elvis songs everytime I have to wipe after doing my business kind of creeps me out...

I'm not knocking the grabber...I have two of them.  I am so short I can't reach anything on a top shelf. 

I think The Clapper is something inside a bell.  Or isn't there a great singer ...Eric Clapper?  I knew a professional Clapper once...he sat through very bad Broadway shows and clapped when the rest of the audience was moaning.

I just love The Clapper.  I wish they would invent one to turn off the stove everytime I leave it on for a day or two.

It's funny what the fibro mind does when it is bored. I have a clapper somewhere around here in a drawer that probably won't be cleaned out til I die. Everytime someone coughed or anything the lights would go off and on. Guess if you got enough of them you could have a light show.

 

You could get space saver bags and reduce the contents of your closets by 2/3. Organize your shoes and keep them dust free under the bed with the shoe thingies.

 

Bella what is hurting that you have been in bed for two weeks??? If I stayed in bed for one day my whole body would be screaming at me.

Hi Marlee, I am going through a very bad flare, probably brought on by a few hectic weeks trying to get my kids organized for summer camp, you know running around shopping ,and ironing on name labels on every clothing item, and getting my monthly did't help. I get a flare every month becouse of the big P, on top of felling lousy most of the time. The day after the kids leftt for camp, I couldn't get out of bed due to severe lower back muscle spasms and nerve pain running down my thighs. This was supposed to be a time for me and my husband to be alone ,to do whatever we want, to go out, since we never do with the kids at home,but I guess it wasn't ment to be. Oh well at least I haven't lost my sence of humor, can't imagine what I'd do without it,probably jump off the bed since I can't make it to the balcony. yeah

Here I am laid up with both knees blown feeling all down about it and I read this post. You guys made me laugh and I am so thankful I am not the Only one with a bizarre and twisted mind. Sometimes I really have to contain myself because I am sure I would break the rules. God Bless the people that make me laugh.

I would love a walk in tub.. would be so much easier for me... but i am in an apartment.. and landlord won't invest in it.. damm it

they are so wonderful saw one at one of my work trade show. they fill up so fast its incredible...

and i would love a clapper. but bf says no...

and a nice handsome well built male maid to do all the housework.. in leather chaps... but i think i would be single if i got that...

I can't remember what I was going to post, but someone said something really funny and I already forgot what it was!   I looked and still cant remember.  tootie, grabber, clapper light show, ???

I am actually thinking of getting one of those old lady rolling baskets!  I want bright blue or red so it doesn't look as old lady.  I told hubby that I needed a walker with a basket cuz using my cane gives me one less arm to use and I run out of places to put things.  When we go to the grocery store he tells me to get a basket cuz I can use it like a "walker with a basket."  tongue    Oh and I want a bright green cane with roses painted on it.  Yep seriously I do.  Might as well be flashy, right?

I'm not sure what you all had for breakfast but I WANT SOME!...lol You guys are too much!

But about that fancy can, Sue. I bought mine online and it is light colored background with small pink/peach roses spiraled down it. Have a scarf that matches it colorwise. People at work thought I had coordinated the two...lol I agree...might just as well have some fun! Just think of the psychodelic tennis balls you can put on the bottom of the walker legs. Most people use the plain yellow ones....but not us!! It's top drawer for us all the way.

I do believe when 'The Clapper' first came out it was attached to a key chain. Then they dropped it for a few years only to be morphed into a lamp switch or some such silly thing. Now, if they would just figure out how we could easily implant one into the men in our lives. NOW we're talking!!!...lol

Actually those walk in tubs look really nice! Shame they don't fit 2 though.... Oh I have a Chia Pet if anyone wants one ;)

If you have a walk in tub, do you have to wait til it is empty before you get out?  Knowing us, one of us would open the door and all the water would pour all over the bathroom!
