Can I ask a question? I don't want to start any poliitical debates. I just want to hear real peoples' experiences.

This WILL cause a political debate so I edited it.

This is too hot a topic.  If you want to email each other, fine.  But there definitely would be a debate and Rule #10 says that debating controversial subjects should be taken elsewhere.  If you are concerned, you  should write your Congressional representatives.

I missed the original post, so I don't even know what the question is, which is why I was wondering if it was just a phrasing issue. I do understand the rule, though! :)

Stari, settle please, and be kind. The moderators are simply doing their job, and deserve more respect than you've just shown. They are volunteers, and this forum would be swamped by spam and arguments and flaming within a *day* if they quit.

Lets get back to real life,, I would like to ask if anyone is taking a mucial relaxer and can give me thte names of some so I can talk to my doctor about them I would like to know whats out there and what works, I have tried 2 and they dont work I just need the names so I can go to my doc and say "please let me try this".

I really dont want to take something thata real bad for me I just cant take the stiffness, has anyone heard of people being able to get Lidocaine and inject it in themselves, or anything ells.

I think my post was confusing. Zanaflex doesnt seem to be bad for you. I take it. It makes me sleepy, so I only take it at night. It helps me sleep without tensing up. When I am asleep and in pain, my body tenses up and that makes the pain worse, so this helps. My doc says soma is bad (that is a diff med). I used to take soma and it relaxed my brain and made me really goofy. I never tried lidocaine. Is that like novacain? I tried novacain before the botox. It worked a little, but hurts more at first.

Hi painter,
I have been on skelaxin for a year and a half and since I have been taking it I have very few muscle spasms. It also works on my back muscles.

I have times when I sit down for maybe a few minutes to thirty minutes and when I get up I can't straighten my back. Skelaxin helps with this problem and the pain at times.

Thank you, I will talk to my doc about that and see if I can try it, I will let you know, I see him in 2 weeks. I have retired from my job today and I was suprised by the cake and the card from the company and the CHECK smilewinkgrin I never expected that and in the years Ive worked there they have never done this for anyone, Im very proud of this and I will miss my job but it may help with the pain.

I think that there is nothing wrong with a healthy debate. I think if it started getting nasty, then it should be discontinued, but I don't see what is wrong with a simple debate. I mean, I would be interested to hear other people's opinions on this because I really don't know much about the plan. I really don't pay any attention to politics. Would it be controversial to ask what exactly the plan is?

Sassy, read the forum rules.   The plan is also available on the Internet for you to read if you wish.  But we will not be discussing it here.

Hi all, well I tried thr skalaxin and it nad me very dizzy to a point that I would not drive, I did get a small headach but it went away after about 20min. I would say it helped the pain by20% or so I realy didnt like the fack that it was a $50.00 co pay for a one week supply shocked

That hurt, we have 67.00 left to make it till the end of this month. So I dont think its going to get refilled: well being retired means staying busy Ive been cleaning house and doing the laundry, cooking and all that it makes my wife happy. but it gives me something to do. Friday will be my day and thats working on my boat. Well Chutz I havent heard from u for awile please write to me on my email, hope everything is ok with u and yours.

I would also like to thak the person that told me about the skelaxin Im willing to try anything that will take this pain away other then something that would kill me Im not going there.

Like it or not, there have been over 350 views for this post.

Might that mean that health care/ medication costs are a major cause of stress for a lot of us?

And why exactly is this not as legitimate a part of our health concern as any other?

I'm sure that if we had a post with the subject line that said "Sticking Carrots in Your Ears Cures Fibro" we'd have MORE than 350 views! 

 

Of course health care is a legitimate concern and you can get tons of information all over the Internet and all over television.  BUT we will not be discussing this on this forum  Period!  It is too controversial.  I said that in my very first post.

Jesry, I know this is not the place to talk politics, For me the Skelaxin did not do that well for the pulling and the pain and there is no generic for it at this time so the cost it high. If I did not have insurence I would not have gotten it. So anyone that thinks they would like to try it might think about that and ask there doctor for something cheeper.

Politics are too polarizing to have as a part of this "Safe" forum.
I would recommend visiting a news or political forum if you would like to become more informed or simply express your opinion about a political matter.

This forum is a place for help in coping with fibromyalgia and drugs are are a large part of that. I, too, have insurance, but feel that those without are struggling more than is needful. If we do not care for the least of us, what use is there in caring at all? Facts are facts, not debate. Information, as I said, needs to be free.

There are plenty of site that talk about these issues but HealingWell is not one of them.  Please review the rules you agreed to abide by when you became a member.
