Hey it's been a long time since I've posted and wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm on leave from work for 3 weeks of continuing education. I've been working full-time again since May1st and it's going great. I have so much energy now ...I'm SO happy! My rheum. told me that I have severe fibromyalgia and that really devastated me cuz I'm on major meds. But with the great painkiller Tramadol (time-released) I seemed to get my energy back almost immediately. I still have swelling and pain when it wears off and more pain if I mess myself up physically. But the return of my energy has been a God-send.

Just wanted folks to know there's light at the end of the tunnel. I may be on meds for the next 50 years (I'm 50 now - lol) but at least I can function. Woo hoo!

I am so happy that you are doing so well. As someone who just got diagnosed and hasn't found a good treatment yet it is nice to see that there is hope for the future. I haven't been able to work for about 10 months now and would really like to go back at sometime soon. Thanks for sharing this it has made my day just a bit brighter.

I'm not able to take Tramadol so that's out for me and the Oxycodone I was taking was messing up my anti-depressents. So I would like to know what's left for me? I got dx 2 days before the New Year 2009.

Hi K9!

Read your blog dated 5/18/2009 on your teeth pain etc from Fibromyalgia. My wife has the exact same symptoms which are driving her to despair! She takes Amitrip and Tramadol- is Lyrica the essential ingrediant to ease her suffering? Thanks-Come back

Hey everyone - just checking back to see who's still around who might remember me.

Not sure I can answer anyone's questions. Everyone's symptoms are different, of course, and many people have complicating conditions besides fibro. I don't have depression, for instance, so that makes a big difference I think. (insofar as what meds work, etc.)

Blog post? Not sure what you mean. Was it a post on here? I can't remember it! But anyway, Lyrica made a huge difference for me but whenever I tried any physical exercise OR just working with prolonged sitting & standing I would PAY FOR IT big time the next day or day after. So I got weaker and weaker....until time-released Tramadol came along. Not only can I now do exercise - like running - which SOOOOOOOO helps the fibro but I also don't have the stress of "worrying" about how much codeine to take, when, whether to take it with tylenol etc. etc. etc. Just one pill in the morning and I'm good to go.

Thanks for the info. My wife can't take Lyrica as it crosses with her anti-depressants. We live in the UK and there's not much help here for FM sufferers. The USA are much more advanced!
Guess we'll have to move stateside!

Lyrica:

This medication is used to treat pain caused by nerve damage due to diabetes and shingles (herpes zoster) infection. It is also used to treat pain in people with fibromyalgia.

It is also used with other medications to treat certain types of seizures (partial onset seizures).
