Strange cold sensations

For the past couple of days I've been experiencing coldness in my left knee. It comes and goes, and when it comes, it feels as though someone has an air conditioner pointed directly at my knee. It doesn't feel cold enough to be painful or even uncomfortable, but it just has me baffled.

Have any of you ever experienced this before? Is this something that could be fibro related, or is this something else entirely?

I have cold sensations all the time.  Even my skin, in some places, feels cold to the touch even though it's warm outside or in the house.  I have used the same wording as you to the hubby..."it feels like an air conditioner is blowing on my arm."  Go figure...I just chalk it up to another fibro-thing.

Yes I guess so. Well if indeed it is a fibro symptom, at least it's one of the less troubling ones.

Kythe, I feel like there is ice water running down my leg.  This has been going on for a while now.  You are not alone.

Hello - I have cold sensations sometimes, similar to what you describe.  I usually notice them happening when I am falling asleep, sometimes just a cold "breeze" down my arm, maybe all the way down my body on one side.  It lasts for 10-30 seconds, then goes away. Kind of weird, but it doesn't hurt, so I am thankful for that!

Does the sensation  only come in your left knee?  Have you had an injury or surgery there?  Has anyone close to you had a knee problem?

I get "wet" sensations on different areas.  It's pretty random, and it feels like I've spilt water on my skin, but when I touch it, it is completely dry.  I guess it must be another fibro issue.

Hey there,
I experience these things all the time, all up and down my body. I also experience "wet" sensations. Sometimes (although embarassing) I think I have peed my pants or something and go to the restroom to check. It hasnt happened yet! So I know that it is fibro, you are not alone. Although not fun....as everyone else has said, at least it doesnt hurt!

Thanks for all the responses, glad to know that by far I'm not alone in this.

PBZ0652 I have experienced sensations similar to this at other times. For instance sometimes when I'm meditating I will feel this cold sensation on the side of my face, so I always just thought it was some weird metaphysical thing.

As far as my knee goes, come to think of it, shortly before the cold sensations started in it, I was woken up one morning with throbbing pain in that knee. It's not uncommon for me to have fibro pain in my knees, but I usually only feel the pain when moving my knees. I've never really experienced the throbbing pain like that when just lying still. So I'm not sure if the two things are connected, but if they are, I don't know why I would be feeling the coldness for days after I felt the pain.

Hey Kythe, I can relate to the weird sensations while meditating; I try to look at them as another thing to acknowledge, accept and let go, like sounds or thoughts. Perhaps you strained your knee without realizing it and didn't feel the effects until the next morning. Our nervous systems are so bizarre that I don't think we can use a "normal" frame of reference for pain; fibro pain is so varied and personal. Where non-Fibro people might feel heat in response to an injury, we might understand the sensation as cold. There is no right or wrong description of our sensations, it's just what we feel and it is unpleasant sometimes.

Thank you for these posts. These feelings cause so much anxiety for me that it is so nice to know that I am not alone and can get through.
