 Hi,

 For the last few night I have been waking up with excruciating pain in both forearms.

 My forearms hurt during the day but not like they hurt at night. I have never had

 pain just limited to my foreams before. Has anyone experienced this before?

I've had that in my upper arms.  I feel fine when I go to bed but am awakened in the middle of the night with this aching pain that doesn't seem to relent.  I can't get comfortable so I take Tylenol and get on the computer and wait for the meds to kick in.  This went on for several nights and then it disappeared.  It still will happen rarely but then goes away.

I get this all the time. That's where most of my flares take place, as a matter of fact. Sometimes the pain is so horrible I can't even hold a piece of paper in my hands. I don't get it during the night quite as often, but the frequency of the flares is speeding up, despite my meds. I have had it happen at night a couple of times, and the pain was bad enough that I couldn't even lift my arms to put my hands on my pillow. The funny thing is, I didn't start having the night pains until I switched my Effexor dosage to bedtime instead of in the morning.

This has been happening to me lately.  It wakes me up.  I have a Tens unit and sometimes I use that.   I really can't take anything for the pain in the middle of the night because I take Voltaren right before I go to bed and I'm don't like to mix meds.  I thought my problem was caused from playing tug of war with my large dog, but I have always done this.  I let her win, so I don't have to pull too much.  I just figure this is where the fibro wants to go right now.

Definitely! Both of my arms hurt from my elbows to my fingertips. I can't open jars or even take the seal off of a yogurt cup :( My husband thinks Im being silly but it hurts something terrible.

I was up again last night with the crazy forearm pain. Hoping the pain goes away
or just relocates. Crazy fibromyalgia !!!!!!!!

ya I have this also cry   it hurts like said real bd. so much I can barly lift a cup of coffie . I also have carpoltunel ( sorry Spelling again. Hey do we have spell check ? )  and arthritis in my hands wrist. so that does not help matters . I can't twist off a soda cap. half the time my hand locks up trying to write or be on my computer. not helpfule as I work from home on computer. my upper arms. hurt all the time anymore. can no longer play tug awar with Pug. Chato bear. he is just to stong for me anymore. .. geee shakehead I feel so weak anymore.

 

can barly walk when I first get up from bed or Chair . I use a cart in the store now days. I can now drive it without Running over peoples feet and the end caps at store LOl tongue so i try to make it fun as I  can... or I'll cry . really first time I used one. I almost ran this real nice lady over. anyway . we talked and I ened up crying over having to use the darn thing. now I'm not a cry baby ether .. so anyway. another area I can no longer be the person I once was.

It was reassuring to know I am not the only one.  My forearm pain is only upon retiring for the night.  It is in the mid-forearm to the elbow and bilateral--both arms.  It is a deep pain, feels deep to the bone.  Narcotic pain pills do not seem all that effective.  Surprisingly, a topical analgesic ointment containing menthol and camphor seems to help.   I have a diagnosed nerve receptor disorder but never considered fibromyalgia.  It is great to have a Web Site where we can share our information and learn from others.  Does anyone have any insite as to nightly lumbosacral pain?   This becomes a 7 on a scale of 10 for pain about 3 a.m.  and makes it impossible to sleep.

my pain is so intense in my forearms..and i am getting no answer....i am awake most of the night due to this pain..it is generalized to my forearms..from my elbows down..when i extend my arms..i have a burning piercing pain on my top forearms..during the day...this is there all of the time..at night..it is unbearable..does anyone have any idea what i am dealing with...pls help

I too have this almost debilitating at night in my forearms...pretty much at my end..during the day..when i use my arms..always know my arms are working as there is an uncomfortable stiff/pain at the elbow..at night...keeps me up..have u found any doctor that knows what may be happening..need help with this..tx

It turned out that my arm pain was caused by neck problems. I saw a good chiropractor who did traction and massage - my herniated disc healed and my arms are much better. I have to do my gentle exercises everyday, though.

I hope that you find relief.

Mine started from the neck and shoulder stiffness and pain since the last 2 months. Yesterday the arm muscles start to ache and Tramadol and Ultracet doesn't help at all.

I would see a doctor for arm pain, if it's in both arms. I was told by my pain doc that if the pain is bilateral, arms or legs, it probably originates in the spine. If it's only one side, it can also start in a joint or locally.

ok thanks..just feel helpless..as the pain is very deep and severe..and keeps me up..i do have a very bad lower back from overworking it...i.e. pulling calves on the farm..just not sure how my back could affect my forearms...very frustrated....willing to try anything..tx

My Fibro pain is mainly in my legs and hips. I know I'm in a bad place when my forearms start to hurt. It feels like I hurt in every limb and like I'm carrying 200 lb weights around. They are so TIRED and ACHEY.
Starts just below elbow on down.

Pain stinks.

I have never asked my doctor if it could be fibromyalgia....how do they get that diagnosis..and is there anything to take for this pain..as the pain in my forearms gets unbearable..mainly at night..and keeps me awake...

Hi, Mollypop,

Welcome. Do you like and trust your doctor? That's the first step. Many still don't believe fibro is a real condition, so - - don't wast your time with one who doesn't - call ahead and ask, if you really think that's what it might be. Take a look at "Fibro 101," the 2nd thread on the forum, to see possible symptoms.

Is your pain in other places? Fibro is usually widespread pain - but it could just be starting in your arms. On the other hand, it could be totally unrelated, caused by your work, or who knows what.

I hope you keep posting, and let us know what you find out. Good luck.

Wow...it's been almost 3 years since I wrote that initial post! Since then, I rarely get pain just in my forearms...it is more of an allover pain and if it does pick on one area my legs are usually it.

Getting a diagnosis of fibro takes time...usually bloodwork is done first to rule out any of the connective tissue diseases that have simular symptoms. A tenderpoint exam is done. Bilateral pain is found both above the waist and below it.

Make sure you bring a list of symptoms with you to the docs and don't be afraid to ask plenty of questions.

We are all so differant on what meds work for us...it is truly trial and error.

thanks Robin....well....my pain in my forearms is reaching to the point of..almost no sleep...pain is severe in the night..not good at all...I honestly dont know where to start to seek help as to what is happening...i will definitely let you know if i get any answers or relief....hugs back Robin...Pam

This is the only thread I've found that somewhat describes what I am currently experiencing. I'm having an intense feeling of pressure in both forearms from the elbow down. It feels as though some were squeezing them. Is this what yall have experienced? Or almost like my blood pressure is being taken and its all tingly? Someone please help! Idk how to fix it and I've been up all night.

Hi Jendsan, welcome to the forum!

I started this thread about 3 1/2 years ago. The pain that you describe sounds like the pain I had experianced. I no longer experiance intense pain in my forearms. My pain is more of an allover achiness...when I'm flaring, I experiance intense crushing pain mainly in my legs.

Jendsan, I reccomend that you start a new thread to introduce yourself...that way members can welcome you and get to know you. We are like a family and really care about eachother. You could when you were diagnosed and what have you tried to help. You will recieve responses that way.

Wow I thought I was the only one :( Mine sounds like the same thing. Excruciating pain in forearms 24 hours a day and cannot sleep. I was told I had Fibro 2 years ago but then that was dismissed by one rheumatologist. This forearm/hand pain is horrid. It sometimes moves to shoulder, neck, lower back and hips but is mainly in forearms and hands. Any relief?

Heat or EMS works for me. I take Tramadol ro reduce the overall pain and apply heat to the areas that still hurt. On days heat irritates me or isnt enough, I use the EMS. I like the EMS Better than the tens for this because of the variable pulses. Omron makes one that isnt too expensive, although the pads are pricey, I think. Ni know a couple of us use it.

When I am desparate, I will put it on my hand or wrist or anywhere necessary.

I get random hardcore pain in my forearms at times, as well as other places.
