Ribcage pain

Does anyone else get rib cage pain?  I have this really bad pain that kinda flares every so often in my left rib cage area in the front and into my back.  This flares up about every 2 mos or so and can be quite painful (6-7 on pain scale) shakehead    It is very tender to the touch skull    I take my pain meds but this only gives a little relief, what helps even more is laying down with my heating pad draped over my left side.  But of course, I have to work so really can't lay down right now.  Anyways, just wondering if anyone else has this?

Hey Nanners,
I have the rib pain quite often. It is also my left side that gives me trouble......

I have not found any great way to help it.....just wanted you to know that someone relates to your pain. :)

My rib cage sometimes hurts to. I feel like I'm being stabbed in the ribs or socked in the ribs. darn that hurts.

hi there - could be something called Costochondritis....google it and have a look at the symptoms. I was diagnosed with it and one of the things I found helped a bit, was putting a pillow under my left arm.

It is an inflammation between the ribs of an arthritic nature apparantly, but IM not a doctor, so just check it out on a reliable site.

Good luck, its sure not nice while it lasts.  Be sure tho, that you spell it right when googling..its COSTOCHONDRITIS.

Nanners, it does sound like costochondritis and I do have that.  It can be miserable and it hurts to breathe.  My doctor has me taking ibuprofen with food for that and it does help.  Here is some info about costochondritis.  See if this sounds like you.

First off, I should clarify its actually my right ribcage not the left (dang fibro fog:). It does sound in some ways like costochondritis. Unfortunately, I cannot take Ibruprofen because I have Crohns (though I realize you do too Sherrine), but for me it really upsets my stomach even more. I have been taking my pain meds and it does take a little of the edge off, it doesn't take all the pain away though. At night it is so much worse, and this morning I woke up in alot of pain. I have had this a few times before, so I am just guessing it is flaring right now. I guess I will just have to try to rest up this weekend and keep the heat on it. Thanks for your help and if anyone who has this has any other ideas/tips for me, I am open to all.

Try using a rice bag or Bed Buddy.  The moist heat should help some.  It's an awful feeling, I know.

Haha Sherrine, thats all I do use for heat. I am actually addicted to the darn things. Its either on my side or across the tummy. You should see my tummy, it has the pattern of the dried corn all over it. I always have to explain to the doctors no nothings wrong, its just from my hot bag:)

My 2 cents....

I was feeling that last night on our way home from my husband's b-day party and my first instinct was to take my bra off. :-) I hate the feeling like someone has their fingers between my rib cage on my side, trying to pry them apart. I took a pain pill of course, cuz lots of other parts of me were aching big time after the party.

I love my heating pads as well. I think I should get a bed buddy, they sound comforting.
