Hi all...I am so sad.  :( 

I went back to my family doctor b/c I have been so depressed and feeling like my meds are not working.  Well, it was like a slap in the face.  He went through my list of depression meds and said well, you didn't tolerate Zoloft, Prozac, Cymbalta, etc. etc.  so lets try Wellbutrin.  He just acted like I am a total hypochondriac and will not take me seriously.  He totally ignored the fact that I have Fibromyalgia, and when I told him the Tramadol is not helping, and seems to be messing with my head, he said stop taking it.  COLD TURKEY!  He AND my pharmacist told me it is ONLY a pain pill.  Nothing else.  I have read about it online and on the paperwork the pharmacy gives, and it says that it affects seritonin.  :(  I know it does, b/c of the way I feel when I don't have it.  Then...to top it off, I asked about Savella, and my doc said that it is just Cymbalta that has been tweaked a little to "help women with PMS...or was it PMS...no I mean Fibromyalgia." !!!!!  That made me so mad!!  I know he was just confused...but he through PMS and Fibro right in there together!!!!   mad   It was almost like they were in the same category! 

I have had a hard time leaving him b/c he has been my doctor since I was a pre-teen (39 now).  But, after today, I know it's time.  There is another doctor not far from here who has a real passion for fibro, and I think I'll go to him.

Maybe it's just me, but I think he is trying to help you.  He mentioned the things that you didn't tolerate so he's willing to try something new in hopes that you will get relief.  At least, that's how I took it to mean.

 

Tramadol is basically a pain reliever.  It helps with seratonin levels and that helps relieve some pain.  But, you should wean off this.  Here is what the Physician's Desk Reference has to say about Tramadol (Ultram).

And, as far as saying "PMS" instead of "fibromyalgia", he may have only misspoke.  I've done that so many times in my life.  Half the time I call one daughter by my other daughter's name!  That doesn't mean I don't know the difference.

 

So, actually, I do think he is trying to help you.  This is my humble opinion.  You have been with him a long time and he knows you.  Just think about it.

Maybe he meant to say FMS instead of PMS.  Just a thought...

I don't want to leave him completely...but I think I will try to go to the other dr. to see about the fibro issues. I think that my current doc does know me well, and my family. He just tends to treat me as if I am still a "little girl". This can be good and bad. Good, in that he knows me well, but bad in that he doesn't really take me seriously.

Hi May Name Is Asif. I Am not yet diagnosed that i have FIB.But i want to now to you about little detail of FIB.
1- I Have pain muscle pain widespread pain, pain may also be localized in areas such as the shoulders, neck, low back and most effected my legs, fatigue,weakness,muscle tenderness,headaches,morning stiffness as well little bit joint pain and sleep disturbances.I have facing these symptoms last 3 years but no one can understand what is the problem that's way i am want to no you to about FIB.

Change Dr's for the FM for sure. Try to ween off all those psych med's. Find a different psych too with a better approach. Can live off of psych med's forever. Good Luck. I believe in you.

There is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion. You don't have to leave your doc if you aren't ready but you can go see someone else.
