med alert bracelets

Does anyone have a med alert bracelet? I ordered one just in case.

I've have flare ups and people did not know what to do. Some people have my lay down, put ice on my head, heat blankets on me, give me oranges, give me asprin, have me sit for an hour, give me water, pedialite, take me to ER, freak out and get confused or scared.

I think the bracelet may help them to calm down and make me feel secure in case I pass out somewhere.

I think that's a fabulous idea and never thought or heard of it for Fibro and/or Chronic Pain. I have one for diabetes and I'm ashamed to say I rarely wear it. I wore it more when I was working and out and about more, but like where do I go now???...lol I suppose I could have worn it on our trip to the dump today...lol But seriously, if you go down then people have no idea qhat to do. I use a cane in crowded and public areas just for this reason. Having people bang into me it's possible I'll go down and then what?

A bracelet may be a good idea. I carry a card in my wallet that lists any meds I'm on, so Dr.s will know what I have been taking. It also has contact info for my husband. I think it's a good idea to let people know what is going with you, just in case.

I carry a medical information card with med's I'm taking, specialist Dr's, Urgent Advice Nurse, Primary, Appointments, Addresses to hospitals. Since I pass out the med bracelet should be of some help also.

With all my problems I would have to have a necklace. sad   I do carry a paper that list my disorders, meds and meds I'm allergic to. Never thought to put doc info and contact info on it, that's a good idea. I do get very lightheaded sometimes which could be a problem when I'm out by myself. Right now the hyponatremia (low sodium) is the most serious problem that anyone would need to know about.

 

The problem is I can't stand to wear any jewelry anymore. I never use to take my rings off for anything and now I rarely wear them. I don't know why but they bug me. I carry a watch in my purse cause I can't stand to wear one. Just another fibromite thing for me.

I don't think the bracelet would help much because people still wouldn't know what to do. Passing out is not a common fibro symptom. Unless it also tells people what to do, they will continue to do the things you mentioned. I have fibro yet I'd probably call 911 if I was there when you passed out.

However, I do think the bracelet is a good idea because it makes it easier to identify you and your medical condition and medications if you do pass out somewhere alone.

Marlee, a charm bracelet would be better, less strain on your neck, LOL.

I was just wondering: why do people give you oranges when you pass out? Do they stick an orange in your mouth so you don't bite your tongue? Ohhh, maybe for blood sugar?

I have a medic alert bracelet, for asthma and my drug allergies, also have on it that i have fibromyalgia

Medic alert has an annual membership fee now.. but feel safe for the 50 bucks a year

I've thought about getting a medical id bracelet or necklace, but I am allergic to anything with nickel in it. But, I have considered it, just so doctors know what meds I'm taking and stuff.
