I was on a site awhile ago and it said it is commone to have both fibro and endometriosis.  Does anyone here suffer from both like I do?

Yup. I do. I know of many women on an endometriosis forum that have both.

Yep, me too. My endometriosis is well under control now with depo Provera (thank you JESUS!!!) But I suffered horribly for years and was unable to conceive.

I am hoping that won't happen to me :( that is what deeply saddens me most about it all.  I was on Depo before I have a hard time with the birth controls.  I just started Yaz and it *knock on wood* hasn't been bad I haven't had any problems (yet).

Count me in.  I've had endo since I was 18 and have had 3 surgeries for it.

I had endo and had 2 laparoscopies b/c I couldn't conceive (I now have 4 dks). This was before fibro though. I had horrible cramps where I couldn't even stand on the first day of my period. Now my period is much better, but the rest of my body hurts, go figure.

I have adhesions witch is very similar to  endo ,. but is more spread out in a larger area . and is not connected to hormones. . it is bad though.. it will put adhesions all over from under my ribs all the way down. they have to open me up every 10 yrs or so and clean then all out as it will get to where I cannot walk for the pain... also is like long strings of adhesions.. so when I rip one its like a rubber band effect.. and traumatizes organs as it comes back on you like a rubber band does your hand if you pull it out real far and it breaks . how it comes back and hurts your fingers.. I had to give up my Favorite carrier because of the heavy lifting. cry   no heavy lifting for me the rest of my life or it could get then growing again ... I really Don't want to go there again.. but have lately had some real familiar pains in my abdominal area.

 

My Doctors had a hard time wit this as to start with as they thought it was Endo.. but told me its very similar and just as bad if not worse because it covers a larger area.

 

I am sorry you have this to deal with .. I would not wish this on anyone.. as if Fibro is not enough Right .  ?

I had endometriosis and also fibroids, for years and years and years. I had 3 day surgeries for endo, more for the fibroids, and finally had everything taken out but my ovaries which, thank goodness, are still managing to work!

Me too. The endo came at the same time as the fibro and it was really really horrible at first until they could control it with bc pills. My fibro really is affected by my endo--if one is bad so is the other. I think it is all the hormones and extra estrogen from the adhesions. But just my guess. Someone needs to research this!

Count me in, too.  I was dx at age 24, but I think I had endo ever since my first period. I have had 5 surgeries to remove adhesions and endo.  I ended up with a bowel obstruction because of the endo and had a resection 2 years ago. Then I developed scarring in my bowel where they did the resection and had another obstruction! It took 3 revisions to keep my bowel from scarring shut.  This is when my fibro started as well.  They say that any kind of trauma or illness/surgery can trigger fibro, and for me it definately was the case.

Jenny, my God girl, all them drugs at 36?! I have and still have lots of pains, stabbing pains in the inner thigh of my leg, it's a nerve that's in conjunction with my intestines. Every time, I have gas in the intestines, I get stabbed in the leg. If I would be standing I would hit the floor-pronto! I had my appendix & gallbladder removed & a hernia repair some 10 years ago. about 9 yrs. ago this pain started up. None of my doctors can figure out what is causing it. Since I've been reading on the forum about scar tissue, etc. and the complications of it, I'm thinking this may be my problem. That my bowels are all mixed up due to being entered for those surgeries. I feel the doctors just don't want to go inside to find out.
Anyway, they have had me on Neurontin, OxyContin, Percocet, and Zoloft. I had to quit the first 3, I was like a zombie & developed an allergy to them. On Zoloft I have only gained weight, the pains are still with me.
Maybe, you should search out new doctors & treatments.
You can't live this way, no way.
Keep me tuned in, I really care.

LostinPhilly, you are right on - I think the hormone thing is way interesting and how it probably connects to fibro. I was up to 4 birth control pills a day to try and control bleeding, and the endo pain was more than I could bear. One day I started hemorrhaging from the fibroids and didn't stop (as I was public speaking, giving a presentation at work! yikes) and that was that. The endo pain made me feel like I was having an out of body experience - very floaty and sick. The hysterectomy brought instant relief from the endo and the fibroids. Even as I was taking the 4 bc pills a day I knew I probably shouldn't be. My estrogen levels were off the charts. That was about 2004.

Does anybody know if Endo can cause pain in your side down your hips too?

Yes, endo can cause pain in your sides, legs, hips, and chest. The endo and resulting scar tissue can press on nerves and cause pain or referred pain almost anywhere in your body. You can have endo almost anywhere including on your skin and in your lungs. I read a case study about a woman that had endo in her sinuses.

Wow ,now im wondering about that,becuase I have tissue buildup with pain and was told it is Fibromyositis,but when I tried to go off my Birth control pill twice the pain in my lower back and sides and hip got worse...interesting ,unfortunately laproscopy is the only way to know and it may just be Fibro but the scar tissue is something I can feel ,just making a wild guess on whats going on with me!
