I had an appt with my new psychiatrist yesterday and I'm on the right road to getting better.

But they also started me on Savella for my fibro.  If anyone has been on it or knows anything about it I'd be interested in anything you have to tell me about it.

Anything that can help with my fibro I'm all for it cause I'm tired of hurting all the time.

I tried it. For me it was a huge no no. But i was all ready vomiting, and had symptoms like the side effects, so i think it complicated it for me. I read alot of reviews on web md cus i was curios some say it's a miracle, but they had to hang in there the two weeks for it to start working great for them, then other really hated it. Of everything i read there didn't seem to be a middle ground.

I so hope this is your miracle!!

it's supposed to be great! i'm already on Effexor which is working or my doc would put me on Savella. definitely worth a try!

Hi Ramie, I have been on Savella for about 10 weeks without any bad side effects. It did take
seven weeks before it kicked in for me. I notice that it has really helped the burning muscle
achiness. I have tried Cymbalta and could not tolerate the nausea.

There has been a lot of discussion in the past about savella, if you go to the top right side of
the page; you can put in a search for savella and you can read some of the old posts.

I also use Flexeril, a muscle relaxer when I am flaring. Good luck to you and hope you
find pain relief soon. Almost forgot, it is important to excercise to keep from getting stiff.
Walking is great, relieves stress and builds muscle.

redface OMG! I couldn't handle Savella on top of my Pristiq I guess. I took it only for a week but it was not a pleasant experience.


I got up yesterday and was literally walking sideways (to my left). I was scared but I had already been dizzy and nauseous (more than normal) and spacey since starting it. So, I call my doc and told him I can't take these side effects and keep working at my job. So last night I did Not take another dose of Savella (per docs order) and this morning I woke up in my more normal state. Needless to say it was a very frustrating week! sad

Yeah I stopped taking my Pristiq and am on a whole other type of med. They upped my pristiq to 100 mg and that stuff made me feel god awful so I stopped taking it. The only thing that is bothering me right now is the high pulse rate and I'm learning if I get up slow and don't move fast then I'm ok and if it starts getting bad I take some deep breaths and sit down if I have to. But I'm only on day 5 at this point so it's bound to get better. I do notice that my muscles don't feel as bad as they used to although they are still a bit stiff when I first get up.

Hi everyone, it's been a while since my last visit but I would like to know what Savella and Pristiq is, are they for pain, I have Fibro and I take for it is Morphene and 5 other drugs for sleep and depression I could use a new drug for spelling but they havnt made it yet.

Hi Ed, I have just prescribed Savella it's a new medication that is to be used to help treat fibro, it's an SNRI....it also works as an antidepressant.

Pristiq is also a new antidepressant. I've heard from a lot that it's no different then Effexor. It wasn't working well for me so I don' talk it now.

I was just diagnosed with Fibro. The Rhuem. Dr. gave me the trial of Savella. Have lots of ? first. Should I try something else first, have Ibs-D, did it bother anyones Stomach like that? Cause if I lose control if my IBS (if that is what you call it) I could be off work for weeks. Did you work the first week of taking it. Never taken anything like this, shoul I drive at first? I think maybe I should just try the Flexeril at night at first. Just not sure I can take anymore symptoms right now. Is there any meds out there for Fibro that dont have alot of side effects? Use the IBS forum alot, the best advice you can get is from those that have actually been through this.

i have ibs d and i take effexor which is in the same family. it hasnt made my ibs worse at all. i had no problems with wooziness when i started. savella is supposed to be great. if i wasnt already on effexor my doc would put me on savella.

no i dont think there are any meds other than tylenol out there without side effects. and even tylenol overdose cn damage your liver. there are tradeoffs in everything in life. and everyone responds differently. savella might be your miracle drug, but u wont know unless u try it.
