Hi everyone

Hope all is as well as possible for you.  Has anyone connected

fibromyalgia symptoms with your vision.  I have always wore

glasses and before my MD diagnosed me, I had a vision exam

and the eye Dr. asked if I had any medical problems and that

my vision had changed alot.  I did not connect it to anything

but I now find that there are times my vision gets blurred for

a while and then it clears up. My MD says I should get my eyes

checked again, and I will, but my question is our eyes are

muscle and nerves, could this lovely affliction effect our vision

at times of stress and nervousness? :-)

My vision changed a lot when my fibro symptoms really started to kick in - before I even knew it was fibro. I think it is related but I haven't really read anything that says it is. I swear it is. I had lasik surgery some years back and was doing great. It seems to be quite a coinicidence that my vision suddenly got way worse again at the exact same time that I started having all of the pain.  I now have to wear contacts and glasses again all of the time.  It seems as my fibro has gotten worse so has my vision.  Each time I go in it is worse than the time before plus I now have a pretty severe astigmatism (sp?) suddenly.  The eye doc was actually quite concerned about how fast my eyes were changing but everything looks healthy so that is good. So my answer is YES - I think vision is related. If not, in my case, it is really a HUGE coincidence.  I am 35 and the doc says my eyes really shouldn't be changing this much at my age.

Thanks, it helps to know someone is thinking on the same line. Right or wrong. I sometimes think I am going crazy.

Med side effect??

If you are already on any meds, some list vision changes as a side effect and docs tell their patients not to get new glasses til they've been on it awhile because it may pass.

I wasn't on any meds when my vision changed for the first two years - when the changes were the greatest.

my vision changes and my eye glass prescription has changed alot the last 4 years i just figured it was cus i read in the dark.

Hi, Rusty, and welcome!  Yes, one of the side affects of fibro is changes in visual acuity.  It's impaired function of the smooth muscle used for focus as well as skeletal muscles for tracking.  I am severely hearing impaired and need to use closed captioning when watching television.  Some times I have to squint in order to read it and other times my eyes are fine.  It's been like that for years.  So, try not to worry about it.  Hope this helps!
