Eye Pain with Fibro?

I was diagnosed with fibro 5 weeks ago. Have had IBS-D for 28 years and alot of aches and pains I thought was the dehydration. After ali tha testing for the last couple od years I have been told I have Fibro, bursitus, DDD of the neck and a labreal tear in my shoulder.Holy Moly I really do hurt alot. Anyway last year my eyes started to ache and burn and get blurry. Dr. said to see eyeDr. but he said it was not eye strain. I have been on Savella for 3 weeks and it has helped my aches except the bursitus and tear in my shoulder(need surgery on that). But my eyes stiil arereally bothering me. Im going to ask the Dr. next week but do any of you have problems with your eyes. I really dont think I can take another diagnosis.  I also have had terrible headaches and neck pain. Not sure if it is the Savella or the DDD or the Fibro. Sometimes I think I should just try some stong pain pills and call it a day I am still working full time but it is a struggle everyday just to leave the house. I cant work much longer with my eyes like this so any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I too would worry about the eye problem and would keep banging on doors until I got a reasonable answer. I would want them to be way more thorough and get some answers as to what's going on.

One of the things on the long list of fibro symptoms is headaches. And with the pain in your neck and shoulders I could see why your head would hurt like crazy. I have arthritis in my neck and not only are my neck and shoulders extremely sore/sensitive, but I get headaches that stem from there. Not as often you yours but enough to annoy me. With the headaches it makes it harder to read but also nothing like what you are describing.

Your comment on the pain pills was meant in jest but I also some some bit of seriousness in there too. I'm assuming you are not taking anything for pain...right? And you may not wish to or need to. But if it's something you are considering you might ask your doc for something to help you try to lessen the pain. I would think driving to and from work would be hard with your eyes bothering you and the pain at a high level. I take oxycodone 24/7 for pain. Yes, I hate it but without it I would have absolutely no life at all. I would be immobile and sobbing or worse. It took me a while to adjust to what I take and over a long time but I did work and drive while on the medications. I still rive but I am very careful with my meds. I also take Provigil to combat the sleepiness that the med's cause.

You are right! You do NOT need another diagnosis! But I don't know anyone on here who ONLY has fibro. It's just how it is. I also am on insulin, have UC, colapsed disk, arthritis in my neck/hands/and other joints, rare form of dermatitis, PTSD, and a few other side dishes. Nope, no fun at all but would be much worse without knowing what I'm fighting and having a great doc who treats me like family.

Keep in touch and post anytime you need a shoulder to cry or lean on. That's why all of us are here...

     I just had my first bad flare since starting my herbals 7 months ago. This is the time of year it

hits me hardest. For the first time my head felt like it was in a vise. The nerve endings from my

shoulders to the top of my head were on fire. This is also a first....it felt like someone was inside

my head trying to poke my eyes out. Never had that before. It hurt to try and focus on doing my

job reading tray slips and checking them. Very light sensitive, too. Even closing my eyes didn't

help much.

   I wonder if it's something that's going around in our area. I've had a headache for about the same

length of time. I also blamed it on stress. Some of the others in the kitchen had it too.

I had a lot of eye trouble last year. It started with trouble focusing, and my eyes burning with the least little strain. Then I started seeing after images almost constantly, with just glancing at something with contrast. The halos that you usually see around lights tripled in size. I was very concerned and kept bugging my doctor at every visit about it. I went and got a thorough eye exam and every thing came back normal, so I tried to stop worrying about it and just live with it. I think this lasted about 9 mths, maybe more. Then one day I realized I didn't see the large halos anymore. My eyes still do tire easily, and at those times I have trouble focusing. If I have time, I lay down with a cool cloth over my eyes and avoid the computer or reading.

I hope you feel better soon. It's so hard when a symptom affects our work.

Thanks so much for replys. I have found that massage helps my head and neck pain too. Have a friend co-worker who massaged her moms with Fibro and she does wonders! She says she can feel knots in my shoulders. I know you have headaches with Fibro but mine have been SOOO bad since I started on the Saveela that I have to wonder if that is causing them. However it helps the rest of my body and the IBS so much I was hoping it would go away. But I have only started researching Fibro and had not heard about eye pain. My Internist moved away so all I have right noe is a new Rheumatolgist. I use the IBS forum too and I would go crazy without being able to ask things on the forums. Does anyone know if insurance pays for massage therapy? It is 40.00 to 60.00 an hour around here. Im going to ask my insurance but it is really bad. I am looking for a new company.Take care, Normal

Sometimes i get light sensitivity in the a.m. when i get up, I can barely open my eyes.
They're like slits,the light hurts so much. It comes and goes. A few years ago, I had to
go to the eye doctor because i believed i had some kind of eye allergy. Now,I'm not fond
of M.D. appnmts and i have to be desperate to go. Was a viral infection. Later that same
year, back to the eye doctor, this time dry eye syndrome...

I'm amazed at all the weird little conditions that just happen to come and go with F.M.
