Thursday Koffee Klatch Day~

When I was in Marine Corps Boot Camp at Parris Island SC we had about 10 days that we had to spend out in the "field" and learn all types of different combat readiness things both in classroom and in the field.

One day we were taken out in a woody area and we were split into groups of about 10 recuits each and we were going to learn some compass readings.

We were given as our guide the Male instructor of the course We had hit the jackpot he was a hottie.  We were so happy and giddy.  As female recruits you could not even look at males so this was a treat.  So the Good looking Sgt took us on way deep into the woods and we followed of course.  I think we would have followed him anywhere...

But anyway we were out probably about 1/2 to 3/4 mile when all of a sudden lightning struck not far from us.  You should have seen our handsome Seargeants face.  He turned to us and said alright its going to be okay but we have to be quick and get back to the bus.  Lets go recruits.  Well like I stated we would follow him anywhere so we did.  Of course he could easily out run us and he was nervous about the lightning striking continuing around us.  We all ran double time thru the woods back to the camo bus to get away from the danger.  We finally made it as it started to pour rain all over us.  Of course we are All weather Marines right No problem.  We were just upset we did not get to spend more time with the hot Marine!  OORAH  Devil Dog

In East Texas growing up we had the most awesome lightning storms. You could smell and feel it coming in. The air smelt so clean and there would be a shift in the air it was like you could feel the electicity and the hair on your arms would stand on end. We lived in the woods on the lake. We would make beds on the porch or by the sliding glass doors and when it hit we would just watch it. You would get the large streaks of lightning tearing down or going across the sky they were enormous. Then you would see it just in the clouds just make the clouds light up and glow. If enough of them got going at once it was like a chorus and cover the whole entire sky. The wind would really get to howling and when you had flash lightning you could see the white caps on the water and the pine trees would bend and almost touch the ground. I moved around a lot been through tornados and hurricanes but I've never seen anything like those lightning storms I wish I could describe it better. Everytime I go back home I hope one will hit so my husband can see it and while some smaller ones have hit its never been one of the really big ones. Although it might be a good thing cause in Puerto Rico we had a couple of hurricanes get within 30 miles and he flipped out so I'm not sure if he'd appreciate the view or not.

I don't get to be in much rain, but I have discovered the solution. Hamster running on a wheel + pump from a fish tank = sound so similar to rain on a roof that you walk outside and are wierded out that it's NOT wet.
