Since my husband's father died 9 years ago, we have always had Thanksgiving at our house. We never wanted "grandma Ruth" to have to worry about
where she was going to be at this holiday. Grandma makes the turkey, my husband loves to make the mash potatoes, I do pies, green beans, brussel sprouts and sweet pototoes. It is a tag-team effort and everyone is invited. Sometimes it is just Grandma, Hubby, kids and me and sometimes we have 25 plus.
We eat later, around 5 ish. I make the pies a day ahead. I do the veggie just before we sit down. My boys and I have the tradition that we go see a movie around noon that day. We have done this for years. about now they are saying, "what are we gonna go see on Thanksgiving?" It almost doesn't matter what your traditions are. Just make sure you make those memories.
