Child Support hearing and unable to work

I know this is obviously best asked to an atorrney but can't afford one. So, I thought that I might be able to get a few personal exprience stories here. I have a child who is living with her father. He is suing me for child support, attorney fees and retroactive child support (even though we agreed on a different situation 3 years ago). Any way, I have applied for disability, got turned down, appealed the decision and am waiting for that determination. How can I expect this may go down? When I can't work due to my long list of medical issues, etc. Especially if I wind up getting awarded disability. Do judges not care that you are disabled and still order the support anyway.....I have no income to pay child support.......and no $ to hire an attorney. And personal experience with this? Any help you can give would be great! Thanks friends.

I think donnaeil is right. You should provide proof of your disability and the status of your disability claim. Your ex maybe asking for some outrageous amount, but don't worry the judge will look at your situation and award what he thinks you can pay. For example, after my divorce my ex took the kids for awhile because I was severely depressed at the time (because of him, ha). He was trying to get me to pay $900 a month, I was only making 18k/yr at the time. I had been paying him $200 a month and the judge only increased it to $227 month. So they do look at your financial situation. Good luck on your disability and court hearing.

I am just making myself sick over this.......I am going to gather all of my documentation together to bring with me to court. Can't hurt to try and show my case anyway. I don't want any of you to think I am a "dead beat" mother......her father can more than provide for her on his income and I took a reduced child support for her older sibling for years to help offset the future child support for this child. I just have to be able to plead that case since I can't afford an attorney now.
