Hi, I usually post in the Lupus, I also have Fibro, I wondered if anyone has been having this problem like me.  I was dx w/fibro in 2008, but this year, I have more pain when being intimate with hubby, when he just touches my sides or other areas too, it really hurts alot.  I tell him not to and he listens but I feel like so delicate, I'm hoping someone out there knows what I'm trying to say.

Sorry, but I feel sad because it reallly not the same as it was before and I feel like such a complainer, hubby does understand, but you know in back of my mind I'm wondering does he really?

Thanks for listening, I feel embarased and feel like its only me out there.

Hi Syl and welcome to the fibro forum. Being intimate with our other halfs is a part of life and fibro affects every part of our lives, sadly. My DH is not allowed anywhere near my ribs, funny story about that. We have had to get more creative over the years but that can be fun too. I'm 59 and he is getting close to 67 and our sex life has not suffered due to fibro. Where there is a will there is a way. smilewinkgrin

 

Don't suffer in silence thinking your doing your hubby a favor you have the right to enjoy too.

Also, if you can have a small glass of wine or a light drink it will often relax you enough so that the pain threshold is different. With me, the release that comes with marital relations often leaves me pain free for about two hours. Doc says this is from the release of natural endorphins. Don't care what it's from... just enjoy the painless free time and fun getting there.tongue

I miss touch. I do ok with intimate relations with dh. I think it's b/c my persecption of touch changes then. Plus, we have been together so long, we know where and how it's ok to touch. It's all the other hugging that I miss. Everyone knows, family and friends, that touching me hurts, so they don't do it anymore. It can feel very lonely. I can ask for a hug when I really need one, but it's not the same.

wow, I'm not the only...Jeannie, I don't drink, can you believe I've never tried wine, funny huh, at my age you'd think I would have (I'm 41yrs old). Yeh, it's just the touching part that bothers me, no other problems in that dept. Thank good he understand's but it's like he'll forget sometimes.

mamanan...I miss hugs too. He luvs my hips and when he hugs he will try and hold them, then I say it hurts, poor thing. it's like I'm more sensitive to touch now than the beginning of this year. I hope it doesnt get worse.

Marlee...thanks for responding, wow, Hmmm funny story..I can only imagine,lol. Feels good to hear all is still going good, I hope to be like you and still be creative later on and still having fun.
I have a funny story too, when trying to be intimate, the week that I broke my toe,when frozen turkey fell on my foot...trying to be carefull and all, it was very funny too.

My back was hurting one day and he thought he would play chiropractor and help it so he crabbed me and slammed me up against him and when he felt the pop, pop, pop he thought it was my back til I slumped to the floor with the wind knocked out of me and many broken ribs. Since then he has rebroken two while we were having a good time in bed is why he is not allowed near my ribs and never will be. smilewinkgrin

Marlee, that sounds painful, but funny too,sorry. My story is while on board, he's like ok cowgirl, he got so into, I was being so carefull not hurt my toe, he actually threw me off, I flew off the bed, he was able to grab me and hold onto me,while my body almost falling, I'm laughing soo hard, he's like grab my other arm (I guess he forgot he doesn't have another arm,lol), some how he picked me up,what a strong man, heehee, after he kept apologizing, I kept on laughing. He's like I will be more carefull next time.

I can't believe I flew off and almost landed on my behind, didn't think I could fly..

Pain while being touched is in many ways,. In relations-in holding my little one, it is so depressing to feel this pain and not be able to give back. My hubby also understands and is very gentle, very very gentle. But little kids dont understand why mommy hurts when I sit on her lap. Dont understand when daddy tells them be careful mommy is hurting tonight. Sad to see there face when they think they are hurting you.

I understand you situation as we all do. but like othere have said where there is a will there is a way I truely believe that.
