Do you feel the fibromyalgia is progressive?

 

Feels like to me, my fibromyalgia is getting worse, I don't remember feeling this bad last winter. Granted, the winter here is South Eastern PA is much colder than it was last year, but I just don't remember feeling bad all the time like this last year.

even though research says Fibro is not progressive . I would disagree with that .. I would say it most certainly is progressive. at least for me it has been

I was Dx'ed with Fibro about a year and half ago.. and it has progressed I think pretty fast.. to the point I am debiting how much longer I can work.. I started working from home right after I was informed I had Fibro thinking this would work out better for me.. I do have to admit if I was still working in office I would have already had to file for SSD. and through work.. but so far have not.. only short term for less than three months when I was dx'ed with Fibro back then.. it gets harder and harder as each day passes.
this is a cruel DD , and it can be hard to get your family to realize just where you are with this.. like me. my husband is so used to me being strong and dealing with all kinds of Medical issues. but never letting it stop me.. but this time.. its a Different story .

Wishing you the best of luck ... stay strong.. .. the one thing I know is we must keep moving exercise even if its just throwing your arms around and kicking your legs up and down while sitting what ever. you just need to keep moving. because if you stop the pain gets worse. I know from experience

I've had fibro for 22 years and it held steady until a couple of years ago.  But I am getting older so some of the aches and pains could be from that.  Also, the weather has been wretched this winter and that plays into how I feel.  I am on a statin medication and that can cause muscle aches and pains and I did start those a couple of years ago, too.  My doctor wants me to stop the statin meds for one month, take 200 mg of COQ10 for a month and then add the statin meds back in and continue to take the CIQ10, too.  Apparently, the statin meds deplete the body of COQ10 so I'm going to give that a try.

I don't know if fibro is progressive or not, but I have definately been feeling worse. I can't lie down, sit down, or stand up for too long. If I lie or sit down for a while, when I get up, my feet hurt and feel half numb. I knees are worse, but I was told by my doctor that I have tendonitis in both knees and my wrist. I also have arthritis in my knees. I have been having a hard time opening things. My hands seem weak, and it hurts to open things. I don't know if I have something else going on or if it is just the fibro. And if it is the fibro, is it progessing? Doctors and researchers say it is not. Could they be wrong?

At this point, I don't feel it is progressive. For me. And I could be wrong.

In many ways, I feel better now than when I was first diagnosed. I take my meds, and stay in close contact with the doctors. I sleep properly (well, I sleep as much as I can), I eat properly, I exercise consistently. I learned to say 'No' to things I felt I either could not do or would over-exert me. Water aerobics, proper sleep patterns, and stress management have made me feel far better than five years ago.

However, in interests of full disclosure, my partner feels the condition is progressively getting worse. AND, I tend to be an over-achiever who pushes herself quite hard.

I thought for a while before my dx that I could have fibro. However I do know that since my dx I have felt worse than I have in the past!! Newer symptoms showing up every so often etc. So as far as I'm concerned it is progressive. Or at least can be.

I am definitely better than I was 15 or even 10 years ago. I have less pain and I don't flare nearly as often. When I do flare, it's only for a few days. Rainy/cloudy weather does make me ache more but not as bad as it used to and I feel much better when the weather clears.

I wish I could say the fibrofog got better but at least it didn't get any worse.

Fibromyalgia is definitely progressive! I have had it since I was 28. I used to have flares once , maybe twice a year. Then it started to happen more and more often.

In the last ten years, I have been unable to stand for more than a few minutes. I need to use a wheelchair to go to stores. I need a stool in my kitchen to cook anything. My pain has gotten worse. I need to take percocet now four times a day, something I never needed to do ten years ago. I also take lyrica now.

Housework has become almost impossible and now I need a maid once a week to help me with the floors and the kitchen.

The rain bothers me more than anything. It is when the rain is building, before it falls that I hurt. After it falls, I feel ok. It's weird. Must be the barometric pressure, you know?

Anyway, I am 58 now and the fibro has gotten worse. Anyone who says different is just plain wrong!!!!!LOL.

I think that everybody is different.  And I think it depends what time in our lives we get it.  Also different people have different pain thresholds. 

For me, it isn't progressive (at this time, who knows what will happen down the road).  It has leveled off with the help of pain medications and stimulants.  Without them, I don't think I would be able to function. 

I admit that I had to take time off of work this winter, but I know that the cold wouldn't let me work, it was getting harder everyday.  But I do plan to return in spring.  

We have had some damp weather too which isn't helping things any.  But it is suppose to get nice within the next couple of days. 

I just take it one day at a time, if I can function, I do, but if I can't I just rest.  So far, I have been productive, but who knows what tomorrow holds.
