arghhhh!!!!!

plus .. i am scared to death about driving in this. did i mention ... scared TO DEATH!?!?!? like, terrified??!? like ... THANK GOD FOR KLONOPIN!!!!!

Driving on snow is an acquired taste, that's for sure. Just take it nice and slow and if you feel pressured by the drivers behind you put on your 4-way flashers. They should pass you or at least realize you aren't gonna speed up and get out of their way. And as we say in Michigan, better late than dead.

We have been lucky this year and most of the snow has missed us so far but I do remember winters like your having when country roads were almost down to one lane in places cause there was no where else to push the snow.

 

I hate driving in any kind of bad weather and I'm thankful for xanax. Like Jeannie said, take it slow and easy, allow more time to get to work so your not stressing over being late and hope it all melts soon.

 

Is there any where you can take the kids to let them run off some of the energy???

 

I'll send you my two little dogs, they love kids and need to run too.

 

Hang in there spring will be here before we know it, gotta keep telling myself that.

I can totally relate to the driving in snow thing. I live in Ontario, 5 mins and a ferry ride from Algonac, Michigan. I find the stress of driving can cause a flare if I'm behind the wheel too long but driving in snow almost guarentees a flare :( Luckily we haven't had much snow this year but last year my son and I ended up in the ditch after leaving for his diabetes clinic appointment in nice clear weather and returning less than an hour later in the worst snowstorm of the year. The saying around here is if you don't like the weather...wait a minute and it'll change.

my dad fell on the ice this morning on the way to meet me and pick up the kids ... but he's ok too.

the drive to work was ok, but i saw a huge tractor trailer slide off the road .. and turn on it's side .... and i thought "Do I stop? do they need help?" but I COULDN'T stop ... and I saw another big rig pulling over behind me ... and then there were resuce vehicles on the way a few minutes later. scarey!

i'm in Virginia ... we never get this much snow. there isn't an egg or loaf of bread to be found in a grocery store anywhere. (WHY do people buy that when there is a storm coming? what in the world will ya do with EGGS if you don't have ELECTRICITY!?!?!)

anyway .. i made it home safe and sound. well, safe .. anyway. is it time for bed yet? :)

oh that's funny! french toast fixin's ... i love it.

personally, when we're looking for a big storm, i buy stuff nobody else hoards. i look for things that we can GRILL. so ... chicken breast, hot dogs, potatoes to bake, marshmallows, chips, baked beans .... camping food! seriously, who wants eggs in a blizzard? always makes me chuckle. :)

I am over in Southside, a recent transplant from NW PA, and before that from the DC metro area.

Winter here isn't so bad, considering what it used to be like in Pennsylavania. But I have to say I am appalled by the snow clearance. No wonder schools have to close! I know they don't have the equipment nor the chance to use it (much), but apparently Richmond City sold off some of their equipment 6 years ago. Ergo, the plowing and street clearance seems haphazard and takes forever. Plus, the removal budget is blown for the year.

What really bugs me (this is turning into a whine), is that people don't clear their sidewalks, and as a result there are pedestrians walking on the road. Now, right after a snow, I understand that, but we are 6 days later, and drivers still have to watch for people walking in the road.

I have to say that slow and steady wins the race in snow driving. But stressing yourself out about it is not going to help. Easy to say, but much harder to implement!

What's the worst that can happen if you are going slowly? You slide, maybe bump a car or a post, or hit a ditch. A little stressful but nothing permanent or even potentially hurtful.

Patience, rabbit. let's see what the future storm holds.... I really don't want to be missing any more school!!!!!
