I have been diagnosed. I have 16 of the points. But I was wondering. My skin everywhere feels bruised and is tender to the touch as if it was bruised. Is this from the fibromyalgia? Thank you.

If you've been diagnosed and had tests to rule out other things, then it probably is due to the fibro. I feel tender just about everywhere I'm touched, not just the diagnostic tender points. That kind of tenderness is a hallmark of fibro, I believe.

My family has had to learn to be gentle with me, no "roughhousing," etc. I used to be a KG teacher, and to get my attention, my little angels would come up behind me about 3 million times a day and poke or tap on me. I finally taught them to come up and gently lay their hands on my arm to get my attention. I just love 5 year olds. :)

Hi, MPCutie!  You didn't say whether or not any blood work or testing had been done.  I sure hope it has.  Fibromyalgia's symptoms are very much like many other illnesses.  The tender point test is only one of the tests and you are usually diagnosed once the other tests come back negative. 

 

If you check out Fibro 101, there is a link about this called What Else Could It Be?  These other things can and should be treated.

 

I'm very tender, too.  My kids, when teenagers, would playfully swat my arm and I would yell out in pain and I thought for sure I would have a bruise the next day but that never happened.

I actually was never ordered bloodwork until I saw the fibromylgia dr. He diagnosed me and ordered alot of bloodwork. I went today and got 9 vials of blood drawn. So I am now awaiting my results.

I'm glad to see that is being done.  It would be so bad to be misdiagnosed!  Your doctor sounds like they are being quite thorough.
