I had m/n surgery 5 years ago, but first I did accupunture, and then the alcohol based injections.... neither worked. So I had to do something so I had the surgery. Mine was done on the outpatient bases they did a pain block in my leg that numbed the leg and the foot. I was not permitted to put any weight on it for over a month. What was to be a simple surgery, turned into a very long recovery. It was a struggle to do any day to day functions.. hopped on walker and used a wheelchair, a shower was over an hour ordeal, had a very good hubby to help me w/ everything. So you need to know that while some people get along great and it little no time, and others like myself it was months.... so be prepared that it could take time, but the end result we all want is NO MORE PAIN!!
On a postive note, I have no pain in my foot, but it has been a long time coming. Once they cut and remove the nerve, your foot will never be the same. But would I trade weird feeling for the pain that I was having... anyday.!! Only you know how much you have tolerated and how much more you are willing to tolerate. When you reach the point of NO MORE, you will make your decision. If I had it to do over again, I might seek out an orthopedic surgeon that spealizes in the foot.
I know what you are going through.... hang in there!!
