Hi. A am 35 years old, married to my wonderful husband for 15 years. We have 6 year old son. I was recently diagnosed with fibro after lots of dr visits and lots of tests. I was reading the post about what hurts the most about fibro. I couldn't believe it. You guys totally understand--the memory lapses, people thinking you look "fine" when you most certainly are NOT, not being able to do what you used to do--all of it. It's so great to know someone out there can understand what I'm feeling--physically and emotionally.

I know my family must get tired of hearing me whine, and I try not to, but sometimes I just hurt so much. My husband is very understanding (he has arthritis and knows all about pain). But most people just don't "get it" if you know what I mean. I guess they think I should just suck it up and go on. And believe me, I would if I could!

I absolutely hate planning every day based around how I feel. Some days I can't even get outside to play with my son and it breaks my heart.

My doctor has put me on a med called Mobic (meloxicam). I will probably start it tomorrow. Does anyone else take this? Does it work?

Hi there. Love the name! :)

I took mobic a few years ago for neck pain (I have bulging discs) and it was a Godsend. I have wondered recently if it would be something that would help me with the fibro. I believe I will look into that. The only problem I had with it was that, while on it, my periods were horrendously heavy. I was on it off and on as I needed it, and was able to link the two thru trial and error.

Welcome! I've often thought, "If one more person tells me how well I'm looking, I'm going to scream!" I couldn't play with my kids much either, once fibro reared its ugly head- at the time they were about 7, 4, and newborn. It does break your heart. I hope your new med works for you.

Hi! and welcome to the family. We truly do understand what it is to live with fibro. No
two days are alike, but you do learn to live with it. Everything is trial and error. You will
find what works best for you. If you haven't already, check out fibro 101 on the top of
page one. Sherrine has compiled a great resource for us, lots of good information.

Heat is a fibromites friend. I love to soak in a hot bath, it really relaxes me and helps
some with the pain. There are days when I will take a shower in the morning and soak
in the tub later in the day, sometimes twice. I also use my heating pad or bed buddy
while I'm at the computer or watching TV.

Exercise is one of the best things you can do to help yourself, even on days you are
flaring. I try to walk on a daily basis and do some gentle stretching throughout the day.
Your six year old son must keep you pretty busy and I'm sure you do get exercise.

Take time for yourself each day to do some form of relaxation to keep your stress down.
Stress causes us more pain. I do deep breathing exercises and meditation.

I take Savella daily and cyclobenzaprine when I'm flaring. I have taken meloxicam in
the past for arthritis and back problems.

Hi There,

Welcome to the fibromyalgia forum. You definately have come to a good place. Everbody here totally understands where you are coming from. Fibromyalgia can be difficult, but it is not fatal and can be worked around. I know that it is hard, but it can be done. Learning to take life one day at a time is the best thing that you can do. Actually with fibro you kind of have to take things one day at a time, and that has been good for me. No worrying about the future, or dwelling on the past.

I know it is hard when you can't do the things that you use to do. But this is something we all go through. And we are here to support you with that.

Do check out fibro101, it is the second thread on the forum. You will find so much information there. I am sure you will learn a lot. And see how we group together to fight this disorder.

Keep posting and asking questions. Also you can support others which helps you to feel better.

Hi not just lazy and welcome to the family. I sometimes feel like getting a T-shirt made with "I'm not lazy, I have no energy!!"

 

I'm sorry you have fibro but glad you found us. You will get lots of advice from other young mothers on how to handle life with fibro and a small child.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I'm glad I've found a place where everyone understands what I'm going thru.

I checked out Fibro 101 and found some symptoms there that I had never seen anywhere else. Two of which I have and was wondering whether they were symptoms of fibro (hair loss and slurred speech).
