Back Pain or Fibro?

I am having horrible back pain and have been since yesterday.  I woke up fine yesterday but as the day wore on my back started hurting more and more.   I felt like each hour I was hunched over more than the last.  It is a sharp, stabbing pain that is starting in my lower back and shooting down my legs.  I can't tell if it is Fibro or just generic back pain.   Does anyone get back pain of the stabbing variety with their fibro?

Let me tell you that I can feel your pain.   I was in the hospital this past Ssunday, same thing.   Diagnosis sciatica, put me on steriods, pain meds, muscle relaxers.   Rest  and next week I start physical therapy.  Good Luck

I don't believe that I have welcomed you to the forum. You kind of got lost in the woodwork, so if you feel like it, feel free to start a thread and introduce yourself. If not, that is fine too.

I am glad that you have joined us. And I hope that you will continue to post. I understand the sciatic nerve pain. I have problems with it now and then too. It sure is painful.

I have chronic back pain too and trigger points. I also have mild bulging discs at L4-L5-S1 but not serious. I don't get pain down the back of the leg, just a feeling of burning, tired, weak, like I've walked 100 miles after only standing 10 minutes or walking about the same time. I have to sit most of the time. It goes away at rest some of the time, but I can also wake up with the stiffness and achiness too.

I've done 4 different physical therapies at different places, chiro adjustments, and now acupuncture with a woman who trained with Janel Travell (trigger point pioneer MD).

I am also on thyroid treatment as Dr. Lowe's theory really interested me and I do have cysts and nodules and some enlargement on that gland and low thyroid symptoms too.

I'm still in chronic pain every day though for about 4 years. I also get pain in my muscles between my shoulders, the neck, and my knees hurt most of the time as well.

The pain is different too. Much of the time around 3pm it's like a burning/aching behind my hips at the top of the sacrum. Other times it's right in the low middle area, a tired aching, need to sit down. Other times I get muscle spasms above the hips in the large back muscle.

I also cannot walk long without getting tired feeling on the outside of my thighs.

But not diagnosed fibro. Maybe I need to try another rheumatologist??

I hope the PT works for you and that it is indeed the disc that is inflamed. My MRI didn't show any inflammation and I believe X-rays cannot show that either.
