Hello everyone!  I was wondering if any of you in our fibro "league" have had moments where you maybe are driving home and get a zinging feeling in your gas pedal foot?  It feels like an exposed wire touching my foot and then from there it spreads out and you have a hard time controling how fast you're going because your foot has a mind of it's own and is pushing down on the pedal.  I get it every now and then, but mostly in winter.  I was wondering if this was normal for FMS patients?  I didn't find the most sensitive doctors so I wasn't given brochures and or weblinks to go to to understand my new found FMS.  I'm waiting to get the Fibromyalgia for Dummies book because those pesky bills ares showing up and demanding money...again. tongue   When I went to look at the "see inside" link on barnesandnoble.com I read thru the table of contents and found that it should be a good read on what FMS is all about and how to deal with it.  Now if I could just find the time and energy to go to the doctors again for my feet and hands arthritic-like pain then I'd be happy.

I'm not sure if it's normal, but sometimes I get the zinging feeling in my legs and yes they have a mind of their own after that. I also get shocks in my upper thighs and my hands and arms. So maybe your feet. Why not.........

Maybe someone else will have an answer for you.

Yes...I get a 'buzzing' feeling in my feet.  I know of others with fibro that get this too.

Thank you for answering.  I thought I might have another thing wrong and was feeling like "oh great."  Not that I wouldn't handle it like my fibro but I'm already taking a month off from doctors visits because I need to catch up on sleep.  Thanks again!

Well, numbness, tingling, but not what I'd call an exposed-wire feeling. That would be disturbing!

I always put this out there I haven't been diagnosed yet......


I do have times when I'm driving, my leg will shake, ugh. Or the bottom of my foot has a tingling sensation in it. Once I had muscle cramps in my thigh......I did pull over and let the teenager driver..lol

There are also times when I grab the wheel and my palm will hurt.

Hi,

I, too, get a tingling almost itchy feeling in the bottom of my driving foot every once in a while.  It is very distracting to say the least!

Just don't stay in bed too long. There are reasons all of us say that.

Yes, to all of the above, the zingy feet thing, like an electric shock, sometimes occurs in my hands and legs too. Generally I just say (after the initial gasp) "woohoo!" If I talk back to the pain, or just try to include it as I go, it helps sometimes.

And Hara, wise words, there is such a thing as staying in bed too long. Get up and do something even if it's just sitting here typing.

Thank you for the forum - I'm new here, too. I really don't like to complain out loud to my spouse, I don't want to be one of those women who are constantly complaining of their aches and pains, and so on ... so nice to have a place to say 'hey, here's what's happening' and be understood, and to be able to relate to what others are experiencing.

Hara- my husband has looked up things to help me with my sleep because I work graveyard, am on amitriptyline which makes me sleepy, have been fighting sleeping during the day until recently, fibro and am always too tired to eat enough.  He found an article on one of his "nerd" sites (I say it with love because that's one of the things that drew my to him in high school) and read that doctors recommend that you catch up on sleep on your weekends so that you don't feel crappy later in the week or all the time.  So he suggested I apply that when necessary and it does help.  I'm back to my normal fibro self!yeah   But I do agree that I can't sleep too long because my head starts to hurt and I get nausous the rest of the night.  Over all its just not that magic cure.  But I do recommend that anyone on their weekend goes and take cat naps and just catch up on sleep to try it and see if that helps their symptoms.  Who knows it could be like my problems of hot baths??  I can't because it makes me feel ten times worse.
