Nuvigil or Provigil?

Has anyone taken Nuvigil or Provigil for Fibro?

I went to my psychiatrist today, fighting depression and tired of being tired.

She suggested Nuvigil or Provigil to make me more awake.

So far my insurance isn't paying for it, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable taking it anyway.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any success with this med. nono yeah

I tok provigil and it worked for me. But I got sore throat, cold sores and diahrea from it so I switched to adderall. It does help to keep you awake. I like the adderall better though.

I think it is good that your doctor is sending you in this direction. I think that it shows that they understand your fatigue. I hope that it works for you. I don't think provigil is that expensive though.

My pain doc just gave me Nuvigil. I started with half of a 150mg tab. I was afraid of it making me feel wired. However, it just made it so I wasn't NEEDING a nap during the day. I also noticed that when I combined it with my skelaxin it enhanced it's effect. Don't know if that was supposed to happen but it did. Anyway, I started reading up on it and noticed one concerning thing. And this was in everything that I read:

"Nuvigil is a federally controlled substance because it can be ABUSED and lead to DEPENDENCE".

I am not one to take anything that can be addictive (although I understand that most of FM meds are) so I only take it when I am really fatigued beyond belief.

My insurance won't cover this med and the pharmacy doesn't even have it in stock. The pharmacist says it's super expensive so I don't see me taking it for the long haul.

Hi It's a New Day!!!

 

I started out taking Provigil, it worked ok, but I stopped taking it, and I can't remember why. So, about 5 months ago my rhuemy wanted me to try Nuvigil so I said I would try it. I don't think I could make it thru a work day without it. I do not get my proper sleep so I am always dragging. This lets me stay awake so I can work. By around 4 every day I can tell it's coming out of my system cause I start to get super tired again. But it's okay cause I just push thru to make it until I get home. I don't have any side effects that I know of taking it. I started out taking it just M-F but if I am going out to run errands and church on the weekends, I take my usual dosage 1 in the am and I'm able to get things done during the weekend too. Everyone is different with their body and their fibro, but for me....it workssmile
