Hi, well, after almost a year in process, I'm having lap band surgery this week.  Then I am on a liquid diet for two weeks and pureed diet for another two weeks.  I am hoping that losing weight will help my joints and my legs. But I can't ever take any NSAIDS again.  The naproxen I was taking was keeping the pain from osteoarthritis at bay. Nothing touches the fibro pain.  Anyway, I'll let you know how I am in a couple of days.  Prayers would likely help.  Thanks, Diane

Oh Diane, I do hope this surgery helps your joints and legs, too. I hope this helps w/ the pain, too. I'm sorry nothing else seems to help w/ the pain. I haven't found anything that really helps w/ the pain, either. I can't take NSAIDS due to other meds I take. I used to take Advil and that was the only thing that helped a bit.

Have you thought of what liquids you will take for the first 2 wks? Hope they do down easy for you.

I will keep you in my prayers for the surgery and for a nice recovery. I wish you a pain free day.

Diane, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope this is a very successful surgery for you and you get relief.  I know that when I lost weight it really helped me.  I'm sure it will help you, too.

Best of luck, Diane. My neighbor had this surgery and it changed her life! At one time she had chronic fatigue, now she's fine.

My prayers are with you Diane. One of my DILs had gastric bypass done going on three years ago and when she hit the two year mark she was half the size she was before surgery. It changed every aspect of her life, she is a new woman and waiting for the plastic surgery for the skin. She was too big for the lap band but I do know people that have had that and been just as successful with the weight loss.

 

Wish we had time for a before surgery party for you. Be sure and get before pictures so you can watch yourself melt away.
