Constant neck,shoulderblade pain and back of head.

Any ideas on how I can stop this. Ugh it hurts so bad and now I have a head cold !!!!!

I wish I had a solution for you but I don't. I just wanted you to know that I have the same problems and I understand how frustrating it is. Right now for some reason I am enjoying a reprieve from it and it has gone mostly into my lower back. I am washing walls now and praying that it holds out until I am done with them. I know that once it hits in my shoulder and neck I wont be able to do any of the scrubbing because of the pain. Hopefully yours will give you some relief soon.

I have the same thing. It seems to start on both sides of the back of my head and goes down into my neck and then my shoulderblades. I had moist heat on my neck the other night but it didn't do much....

Mary, the pain you have descibed sounds like a tension headache. It can affect the back of
your head, neck and shoulders. I get these and sometimes migraines. Many people with
fibro suffer with headaches. At the onset of a tension headache, I take two Excederin
and do some gentle stretching. Make sure you are drinking enough water. In the heat it
is easy to become dehydrated and that can cause headaches as well. Hope both of you are
feeling better!

I had PT for this, it took a while but it finally got better. It would get so bad I couldn't turn my head or move it up and down. If my hubby touched me between the shoulder blades it hurt so bad.

Is there any place you don't have pain??? It seems you have a post almost every day. Have you checked into arthritis??
I have full body arthritis...hands, elbows, wrists, feet, ankles, knees, back, face, ears, etc. I don't think there is a place I don't have it.
I know I live every day with some sort of pain and it travels the body, sometimes striking the upper torso, sometimes the lower.
Maybe it isn't fibro after all. idea

I also have pain in my back, neck & shoulders. I found an almost too hot bath helps relax the muscles. There are some bath salts that also help relax muscles & have aroma therapy benefits. I also try to do gentle strecthes, walk away from the computer and find a minute to lay on my back throughout the day. Nothing gets rid of the problem completly but each thing helps a little.

Mary, did you try moist heat? My Savella works for my Fibro Pain but many can't take that. I am hearing a lot of good results with the use of LDN. Have you looked into that?

a hot bath or hot tub works, so does gentle stretching and ice. I have fibro and arthritis and myofascial pain that all affect my neck. There is also a stretch you can do where you lie on your side and put both arms out in front of you. take the top arm and lift it up in and down, but instead of going up only a little, bring the arm all the way behind you. Then after you do that a few times, turn your head around when you lift your arm. My pt calls this a clam shell. Maybe there are better directions on the web. I can only find one for legs.

I find either Neurontin or Flexeril helps pain just about anywhere.  Really hate taking meds, though, so I use them only as a last resort.  Best of luck and feel better!

I have a lot of shoulder and neck pain too. My chiropractor has become my best friend! When he cracks my neck after I've been away at college for four months, it's like a miracle occurs. Suddenly everything loosens up and I can move my head again!

Chiropractors don't work for everyone, and I've heard of a number of fibromyalgia sufferers actually getting worse under chiropractic care. It's important to be your own advocate in that situation. My chiro put me in traction to fix my neck (I hold my head forward) and it only made my pain worse so I told him he couldn't do it anymore. He said that was all right and does a much gentler treatment on me now and it works great.
