if I am the only person with these other symptoms.
Hey fibro family sorry to be a bug bear but I spoke with my Aunt earlier and she told me she had been diagnosed with fibro three years ago she said she takes codeine for pain and never mentions it to anyone...I guess she was in a way telling me it isn't that much of a big deal to her. I feel confused again so here goes.

Started off with abdominal pain and back pain then I ended in bed with pure fatigue. That was a year ago I didnt know what was wrong with me. Then around August 09 the symptoms started to peak, the chest pain started, with facial numbness, migraines, "pseudoseizures", weakness, balance problems, pounding heart palpitations, tingling, I don't need to include the full list, I know that you all suffer too. Today I am still fatigued but trying that little bit harder when I can. A few months ago I had a UTI which was pretty difficult to treat, last urinalysis was clear but to this day I still have bladder pain, when it is slightly full along with urgency. I am new to the diagnosis but not to the symptoms. I was told somatization disorder for so long I had no clue what was going on. I guess this leaves me at a stage where I am still coming to terms and trying to learn the best way forward. Just bought the survival manual hoping it will help me do just that.

My youtube channel is called bodycrying if anyone wants to take a look at how i was in April compared to now. Think in terms of anxiety I have came forward a little bit but still having my moments. The medical system isn't the same here and a diagnosis is pretty much a vague term. I am glad to have found you all here and I hope one day I can offer more support than feel this needy shakehead I know you all are strong and I just don't feel this way at this moment.

I have to say, your symptoms don't really strike me as Fibro - you mention chest pain, facial numbness, migraines, "pseudoseizures", weakness, balance problems, pounding heart palpitations, tingling - but none of those are really representative of Fibro. Do you have the deep aching pain in your muscles?

Other than the medications you mention, are you doing any type of physio for helping to strengthen your muscles and joints? What type of exercise do you do, if any? Walking and swimming are both excellent - I am currently doing AquaFit which is perfect for me...the water feels good and doesn't put pressure on the joints and I can modify the moves if there is something I can't manage - so I hope you look into that. And as you probably know....heat is your friend!!!

I do hope that because of the Somatization Disorder, you are paying attention to the psychological side of your health and are seeing a professional to help you journey through that. I imagine it's a tough diagnosis to accept when you are experiencing these symptoms, but it's important to find acceptance in order to move forward.

I'm glad you found us in the forum and I hope that we see you often. Keep up the good work of aiming for good health.

I cant exercise, been bed bound for too long and yes I have the pain which I tolerate well except for chest pain. Maybe I am more on the chronic fatigue syndrome spectrum as I find the symptoms I have on both conditions. And Fibro can produce neurological symptoms for some. I think it is an illness that is individual to the sufferer. The survival manual I have mentions chostocondritis or TrPs as source of chest pain. Cardiology said that chest pain is from fibro. Numbness is also documented as part of fibro but alongside this I have a diagnosis of Somatization Disorder heres a link and if you look at the syndromes and symptoms in the panel you will see Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome I was only told somatization for two years before fibro and cfs was mentioned so yeah a lot of distress and confusion. I have also had suggestions by doctors about MS so God only knows where this is leading for me.

Ohsofibro - I am no expert in this but I believe alot of your symptoms are fibro related. I am not 100% sure of this but this is what I understand.....fibromyalgia used to be considered a somatization disorder before it was recognized by the various health organizations as a real illness. Unfortunately, there are still some out there that don't recognize fibromyalgia as a real illness. As near as I can tell when the medical profession doesn't have a concrete way of testing for something then it is said that "its all in the head or doesn't exist." Thankfully things are changing. However, we still need them to come up with some tests that can show that things aren't right in someone with fibromyalgia. The medical profession and psychology just need to catch up. IT used to be that way for other illnesses like diabetes and MS. In time....

That is my understanding anyway.
