Hey Sheila - I don't know why all the sleep issues other than there are lots of possibilities as to why one can't sleep. My daughter has the problem where she can't get to sleep. I think once she is asleep she is ok. she is going to do a sleep study test in the near future. Who knows, maybe it will tell us something. How do you separate normal teenage sleep issues with FM sleep issues??!! We have tried hard to keep her on a regular sleep schedule, but it doesn't work. There are many nights she is laying wide awake in bed in the dark in the middle of the night. For her, its like her body turns on late evening. I know for some people they can't sleep because of pain, but that isn't her issue. I think for some that part of the brain gets damaged and malfunctions - hormones involved. I know since my mother had a major stroke many years ago she is unable to sleep without sleep meds. Good luck to you.
