I applied for SSI not too long ago. At the end of this month, I have to see one of their psychologists to determine whether or not I really am depressed. LOL. But, if this appointment goes well, then I will likely be approved, so I would really appreciate prayers on this. I could really use the money. If I'm denied, then I have a friend who is going to take me to his lawyer to file the appeal. I am hoping it doesn't come to that. So, I would appreciate all the prayers and good thoughts I can get.

Dear Sassy, just wanted you to know you have my prayers. I have gone down the same road you are going on now and With the lords help and a good dr. I got approved the first time. I will pray that it goes the same way for you.

I'm going down the same road right now, Sassy. I was denied on my first try - now I have a lawyer helping me. Hope yours goes well the first time.

Sassy, of course I will pray for you. I do hope it goes thru right off the bat. It would take a lot of pressure off of you, that would help w/ some of the stress.

Sassy,  I do not know you, but my heart goes out to you.

Hi Sassy,
I too have applied for disability, SSD and have an appt with a psychologist on the 23rd of this month. I've been stressing a bit about the appt, wondering what he could possibly ask me that is going to be any different than the application I filled out, or all the medical records I handed over? In any case, I will say a little prayer for you and hope that you say one for me.

I don't mean to be the downer of the group, but if this is your first time trying to get SSI you might be denied. I was. I'm just going to wait a little longer and apply again. I haven't quite been out of work for a full year yet.

It took me 4 years and 4 days to get mine but the judge said everyone wasn't credible even me but this judge was in In. for 18 months and only approved 2 cases so i apply again and won it they only gave me 6 months back pay so that even made me madder after 4 years so i filed a suit aganist ssd and just got a check for 20 thousand dollars so don't give up and i hope yours goes fast but they are so back logged here in In. its crazy take care and hang in there Deb

Thanks everyone for the prayers. Deb, what part of IN are you in? I live in IN too. LOL. Yeah, my husband's dad's friend has a lot of experience with disability, and he said that the fact they got this appointment scheduled so quickly is a good sign. I know there is a big chance I could still be denied, but I am trying to think positively. SSI and SSD are slightly different, too, so that might help somewhat. In any case, I am trying to look on the bright side. I have some records I need to get my hands on to take with me to this appointment. They didn't say I needed them, but I like to be prepared.

Sassy, you have my prayers and my support. I understand the process is quite a difficult one, but I hope you are able to go through the steps without hassle. It maybe asking too much, but my big prayer is that you have patient and really helpful caring people working on your file to make things go smoothly.

I don't want to be a downer either but you should be prepard to be turned down. I saw on 60 minutes that it takes 3 tries before it goes through and your better off with a lawyer after the first denial. I'm sorry to tell you but I'd like you to be prepared instead of getting a bad surprise. My prayers do go out that you are an exception to the rule.
