First Chemotherapy Treatment

smhair   Hi all, I had my first chemtherapy treatment yesterday and was up there for a total of 7 1/2 hours. However everything worked out fine and I had no nausea at all. Just really more on the tired side. I slept through quite a bit of it because they gave me benadryl and anti-nausea meds 30 minutes before they started the chemotherapy meds. I tried answering alot of the posts this morning and I am hoping they all made sense because now I not only have fibro fog but I get to have chemo fog too. Just call me foggy from now on. lol

One really great piece of news that I had yesterday was that The brain MRI came back negative for any cancer in my brain. That was a relief. They also give out free turbans and wigs where I go for treatment through the american cancer society so I picked out a few turbans yesterday being as they told me the hair loss will start in about 12 to 13 days from now. I figured I better be a little prepared beforehand. lol

I did have a little nausea this morning but I took one of the pills they gave me right away to stop it before it got bad and it is working.

I am so greatful for all of you and your prayers and loving comments. Thank you all so much. I am going to go lay down for awhile now because it is getting hard to keep my eyes open. Love you all.

Shirley, I'm so glad you didn't get nauseated and it was great that you slept through most of it.  The sleep will only help you.

 

If you want to be impish, why don't  you put on one of your turbans right now.  Then is someone asks if you are losing your hair, take it off and say "No"   devil    Then, when you ARE losing your hair, they won't ask!  I know.  I'm a very bad influence.  tongue

 

Anyway, I'm really glad you are getting some good news and that you are handling this with such faith.  You are a very special person.

Shirley, I'm so sorry that you are going through all of this. You are such a strong
woman, handling every thing with determination, strength and grace. You have
not lost your wonderful sense of humor either. I applaud you!!!!!!!!

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers my friend. Hey, I think it's wonderful that
they are giving you free turbans.

Shirley, thanks for keeping us up to date. I'm so glad this went well for you. You do have the best sense of humor, I think. :D

Sounds great that you slept - and I hope you'll sleep some more. The body does so much repair work while we sleep.

So glad that they have turbans and wigs! Hurray! Now you don't have to bother with hunting some down on your own.

Keep up the excellent work. You're doing just great with everything.

Shirley, that's so great that you didn't have nausea while you were getting your first treatment and that the meds are working. I remember when I went through chemo and the fatigue that went with it. Try to keep yourself in as positive a frame of mind as you can. I know this can be hard, but after reading some of your other posts, you seem like a strong, positive person. This will only help you.

So glad it didn't make you sick.. My mother in-law was given those too (turbans).. She said they made her head hot.. :) She was a very feisty woman and didn't care at that point who saw what lol. I think that was good thinking on her part. Do what you gotta do and don't sweat the small stuff. :) Stay strong most of all. And keep us updated. :-)

          Now you will know what to expect.   You truly are an inspiration!

 

          I will keep the prayers going up for you along with all the others.

           I hope you get all the rest and sleep you need, to fight this battle.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and hoping that your continued treatments go well, and that you don't experience a lot of side effects. Thank you for your loving heart and your concern for others...I appreciated your response to my other post.

Take care of yourself, have fun re-inventing your image with the turbans and wigs. You should ask around if there is a "Look Good, Feel Good" program in your area. We have them in Canada, so I'm assuming they happen in the States as well. It's where you can spend a day getting pampered while learning more about how to look and feel your best while going thru Cancer treatment and recovery. Shoppers Drug Mart here is a big sponsor, and so is L'Oreal. I don't know who you would talk to there, but perhaps a local drug store might have information
