Does Tramadol make you hyper?

shocked  Hello everyone.  I just wanted to know if Tramadol makes anyone else hyper.  My heart rate also goes up but not to the point that I would be worried.  I mean, I have no complaints here since it bosts up my energy level and I'm able to do more during the day.  Should I worried or is this just considered to be a side effect.

I'm out like a light within five minutes of taking it so I don't use it.

I don't have any side effects at all from tramadol, but a couple of my coworkers get very happy and amped when they take it.  It makes my mom sleepy.  Tramadol has quite the menu of side effects to choose from, too.  You're lucky to have one you can live with.

I take tramadol and do not notice any revved up feelings although I wish it did do that for me, I could use a little boost in the energy dept LOL

At first it made me very talkative and energetic then after about 4 hours, I'd get very sleepy. That stopped after the first year or so.

I get mood elevation on the 50 mg instant release, but not from the 100 mg extended release. I don't get as good pain relief from the ER either.

I'm happy to have something that takes away fibro pain and gets me going for at least a couple of hours a day, but I wish the IR tablet would work a little longer.

Tramadol didn't do anything for me. No side effects, but it didn't relieve pain either. So why am I posting, you might ask? I don't know. I guess just to join in on the discussion. lol... Have a great day all.  I a glad that it gives you energy.  You are lucky...

I tried taking it but it made me nausous so they took me off it. I hope hyper is something that doesn't cause you too many problems as long as it helps with your pain. Can't even remember what energy feels like...let alone hyper...lol. Do your dr's think it is anything to worry about??

Thank you everyone for your comments. Just wanted some feedback on how other people respond to Tramadol. I was glad to hear that it also gives some of you a little burst of energy. Hyper was the only word that came to mind at the moment but it's really more like a "burst of energy". I'm constantly fatigued and it's takes so much effort just to get out of bed and jump in the shower. Tramadol has been working for me so far. My doctor doesn't think that there's anything to worry about.

After it kicks in the first 30 minutes I get very sleepy if I can stay awake after an hour of it working I do get hyper to the point I have to be careful to not over do it and tramadol does have a tendency to cause my insomnia to return so I try to take it as little as possible.

It can make me happy and more interested in activity, but it doesn't give me energy. As long as you don't mind it, you're probably safe.

Tramadol provided moderate pain relief in the beginning, but is now next to useless.

The side effect you talk about is nothing to worry about if you take it as directed, consider it a benefit of requiring opioid therapy? Tramadol doses have no effect on me asside from mild analgesia (but not nearly enough), even if I take 4x50mg. Tolerance builds quick, and hydrocodone isn't available in the UK to my knowledge, so I'm going to have to switch to Oxycodone/Fentanyl, as soon as I can see my rheumy. (Who has been promising for 2 months an alternative, to no avail.)

I take Tramacet, and while I think it helps with breakthrough pain, I'm not 100% sure if it's the Tramacet doing it, or one of the other drugs I take. I have been having major side effects with the Cesamet I take as well. We just recently increased the dosage of some other pain meds, so we'll see how much breakthrough pain I can manage.

No, not at all. I don't get that reaction to any opioid medication. Sometimes I wish it did! I could use some energy! It does relieve enough pain that I can function if the pain gets really bad, but I think it does that only because I take it as needed, and not on a regular basis.

It did make me feel like my heart was racing, so that was it for me. Gone. A little high, I guess, too.

I take Tramadol and it helps me. I started taking Gabapentin (Neurontin) recently and I noticed that when I first started it, it made me feel energetic. I see you also take it and perhaps it's the combination of the two drugs that makes you feel that way.

When I take them both together I feel like I can conquer the world. I started taking the Gabapentin in March because I was popping Tramadols all the time. Just two days ago I had to up my dosage of Gabapentin because it wasn't working as well. My problem is that I had gastric bypass surgery two years ago and I don't absorb drugs as well as I did with a whole stomach.

The only thing I don't like about the Gabapentin is that it makes me very forgetful, or maybe that's my 'Fibro Fog'. My mind certainly isn't as sharp as it used to be. Hubby says it's kinda bugging him that I'm out of it, but what's a girl to do? I don't want to be in pain.
