Does anyone use Tiger Balm for sore muscles?  My mom bought me some and it seems to rub in real nice and doesn't smell too bad.

So, what muscle rub does everyone else use?

Nothing, because it would probably either make me sick (scent sensitive) or break out in a rash! I can't even use ultrasound gel.

I use Icy Hot from time to time but don't care for the smell.  I will have to look for the Tiger Balm.  Do you know where she got it?

Hi GSDgirl,

I have tried tiger balm too but I'm not a big fan of the smell. The best ointment I have tried is Alcis. It works wonders, is not greasy and does not smell. The problem is that I have to buy it online. I am currently using Voltaren Gel. If you want to go the homeopathic way Traumel and Alcis are great.

Libby, She bought it at a vitamin / holistic store. 

I don't care for the smell of most of the rubs, it burns my eyes.  Tiger Balm has the camphor in it but not the menthol like most have.  It burns my eyes too.

I vary between Icy hot and Biofreeze. My mom just sent me some Volteren Gel so am gonna try that soon. I love Lidoderm patches for intense spots...too bad I can't just wallpaper myself in them...lol.

I tried Tigers Balm and it didn't work all to great.
For those that like Biofreeze you might want to look into these too..

PERFORM (from the makers of Biofreeze) Natural Menthol (didn't work all that great for me)

Zim's Max-Freeze, Organic ILEX, Aloe and Arnica, Vitamin E and Tea Tree Oil , Camphor and Menthol.. Works the best so far..

Freeze-It (say compare to Biofreeze) has the same as Max-Freeze.

I was told Biofreeze you can get from a Chiro and I haven't seen it sold OTC here. So hopefully I got the closest to it..

I have my own biz selling adult novelties.. I know sounds like an ad. But there is this stuff called hot legs that is marketed as an invigorating gel , it contains menthol, glycerin, barbadensis juice, and alchohol. It is the most wonderful stuff kinda like icy hot but pink and the smell is not nearly as bad as icy hot. i use it nightly for leg pain and cramps and have my hubby put it on my tender points to relieve the burn. It can also be used for sunburn, cramps, and even rubbed across the forehead for headaches!! I have a customer that uses it religously for MS thats what made me think of trying it on me.
