Hi, Kittybear, and welcome! I'm so glad you found us and joined in! Well, it sounds like fibro but it also sounds like a few other illness, too. You see, many of our symptoms are like other illnesses. That's why it's important to get the other illnesses ruled out first before a diagnosis of fibro is given. The other illnesses can be treated. I see Chicken Princess mentioned Fibro 101. There is a link there called What Else Could It Be. Check that out and you will see what I mean. But most likely you have fibro because there is a family history of it.
Be sure to keep moving with fibro. If you sit or lay too much you will be stiff as a board and in more pain. There are some gentle exercises on Fibro 101 that help and you should be doing gentle exercise every day. I walk and swim as my exercise. I walk my dog first thing in the morning. I don't feel like doing that but I always feel better by the time I get home and have more energy, too. I walk her at least a mile a day.
Moist heat helps a lot. Many have Bed Buddies. You can find these at Walgreen's and other places or you can make your own by taking a tube sock, filling it 2/3's full of raw long grain rice, and tying a knot at the end. Pop it in the microwave and it gives off moist heat!
There are some vitamins and supplements that I and others on this forum use that help with pain and fatigue. There are links to them in Fibro 101.
I'm happy you are here! Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
