Question re muscle relaxants

How many of you take muscle relaxants? I think I may need to add something, but only on days (or nights) I really need it.

Care to share your experiences? Should I ask for something specific? I hate to call the doctor if this too shall pass...

I tried Skelaxin and Flexeril and they never did much for me.

I take Soma and it helps a lot. Keeps my muscles from getting really tight and causing pain. Before I would get tight in the neck and shoulders and always get a headache from it. That doesn't happen anymore. I have tried flexeril and it makes me really groggy. I don't like it.

I take Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) and it helps take the edge off. Like Karen said
it can make you feel groggy. I use it when I'm flaring and I take Savella daily
for fibro. Hope you find something that works well for you!

I take diazapam (Valium) at night to help me sleep. It helps relax my muscles so that my back doesnt hurt so bad at night. I can tell when it wears off though and its my signal to get out of bed.

I take Flexeril regularly. It takes the edge off without making me groggy. It's funny that it seems like 1/3 say it does nothing; 1/3 say it knocks them out or makes them goofy; and the other 1/3 do just fine with it. But that is the weirdness we call fibro.

I'm pretty much with Debbie, they really never did anything for me except the stronger ones, and they would really just put me to sleep.

I have taken Skelaxin for awhile ...it helped at first but I got used to it ....I took Gabapentin but all it did was make me face phomis on my work desk.....I have had pretty good luck with Sulidac also Blue Emu topical rub helps alot too . You can buy that at Walmart ....I will tell you that as much as it hurts the only way I stay moving is to move ....stretch ...breath ...when I sit around or lay around gosh I am done for . Good luck !

I take Baclofen it is a life saver, I only take it when needed

I've been taking motrin, but I overdid and am having a hard time walking. I sit all day, though I try to take frequent walks around the office. If I stay in one position too long, I'm done for. I walk daily, and last night it was so bad that I stopped repeatedly to try to stretch out my lower back and hips. Yowser. The heating pad helped me sleep, so I will try that again tonight and see how tomorrow goes. Thanks, everyone!!

I took skelaxin and it did nothing. Flexeril makes me sleep and I feel hungover in the morning. Soma is what does it for me. Tonight it is not doing it's job. I am trying to hold off on any narcotics until I absolutely need them and when I do I will take them.

A lot of doctors do not like to prescribe soma as they say it is addictive but then what isn't. I do not take Tylenol due to having Hepatitis C and don't want to harm my liver which Tylenol is known to do. Everything that we take goes through our livers but I have some unknown issue with Tylenol.

My mom had pulmonary fibrosis. I haven't come across many people who have it, so I hope you don't think I'm intruding on something other than the subject of the post, I just wanted to say I know it's hard.

I take Flexeril twice daily (morning and night). In all honesty...I'm not sure it's really helping, so might try to remove that from the list, or try something different.

I have a low dose of flexeril but don't take it often as it makes me feel very groggy and out of it.
Hate taking it.

So my doctor also gave me ambien to help me sleep and it doesn't make me feel groggy but it doesn't help with the muscle pain.

:-)  I take skelaxin, it helps me @ night ,I have muscle cramps in my left leg everynight skelexin helps me to sleep! I will take 1/2 @ work if I need it and it helps a little! I also take Norco, savella and mobic for my fibro.

I take trazodone with skelaxin @ night to sleep at least 6 hrs.! cry Fibro makes me miserable!

I take cymbalta daily, and at night if I find my shoulders and upper back are tight I take flexeril,  but I don't use it every nite.  It helps me.

I take trazodone and melatonin to sleep. I also find that fish oil and magnesium help with pain. Yesterday I was put on Mobric for my arthritis pain.
