So, we went from living comfortable on my husbands income to being on temporary assisstance because my husband hurt his back at work and he is pending surgery...but its all good, we live on love and peanut butter. While we wait, his attorney advised us to get assistance because my hubby will be losing his benefits soon.
So, here I await for my medicaid to go thru...in the meantime, my case worker had me evaluated by a psychologist.
No problem, I went to the appointment. As I am at my appointment writhing in the chair from my burning pain in my legs and pain in my butt, hips..my braces are on both hands because my carpal tunnel was acting up, and I am unable to answer alot of the psychs questions due to memory problems, the doc says to me "well, your memory problems are due to your meds, and I recommend you to eat more organic foods" she was pretty much telling me i was a fake.
So, If I were a witch, I would have cast a fibromyalgia spell on that woman. But my busband reminded me that i was a christian lol...
It just makes me so angry at times, people dont know until they walk in your shoes...but I live with my pain because I know there are others out there worse off than me. And oh, my memory problems? As I was at my Rheumatoid doc yesterday, she noticed it and is recommending me to a neurologist.

I feel for ya!! And I have to note that my memory has been getting a LOT worse. I find myself (constantly) walking with conviction into a room, only to stand there having NO clue why I am there. The other day I found certain items in my house in places I have NO recollection of taking there (ie: spices by the front door?!?!?). I've had to pull over in the car because I've forgotten where I was going. And I ALWAYS have my daughter with me. Thank goodness she's 4 and is in tune with what's going on. I've asked her "Where are we going again??" She'll ask me "Mommy, are you having a rough time right now??" So, now that you've mentioned it and reminded me at this very moment, I am going to add it to my list of things to bring up at my next fibro appt.

Double, double, toil and trouble....
I place you in a fibro bubble!
I hope things work out for you soon. It's no fun to add additional stresses like that when you already don't feel well. You have a wonderful attitude, though.

I am finding that my memory is getting worse too. I don't know what is up with that. Maybe I have more things on my mind than usual with the change of season and all. I have things in the back of my mind that I really should write down. Then I don't worry about
them so much. I know it is okay to forget them then.
I hope that things get better with your memory. And I doubt that it is the medications, I think it is the fibro. But what do I know???
I hope that your day gets better for you.
Take care,
Hugs, Karen

Love the spell, Austen! I really wouldn't wish this misery on anybody, but casting a little spell once in a while might be a terrific stress-buster!

Obviously, that psych is a quack, and I'm sorry that you were forced to waste your time. I've been referred to one because I started crying at the doctor's office, and I'm honestly thinking about
not even bringing the condition up.

You had to pay money for that advice? Yikes! Well, take comfort. What goes around comes around.

My hubby is real good with helping me when I forget things....we were in the grocery store and I told him I needed one of them "thingys" for the kitchen...after he made several guesses....and then i said you know one of those things on a stick that I use to scrape the bowl out? then he got it..........a spatula!

I'm sorry to hear that your appointment went so poorly. I think that a lot of the human services "professionals" only choose that field because they have problems themselves, and they want to gain a better understanding of them. I know that my memory is getting worse. The other day, I caught myself putting a container of chicken salad under the bathroom sink! I wonder, if some of the problem isn't because we are hurting so bad and so tired, yet still trying to push on with our daily routines? I know that when I am in pain, I am so preoccupied with things that I need to get done before I can finally stop for the day that it gets hard to concentrate on what I am doing at that moment.

Love the spell idea! That would bring her off her high horse in a hurry! There are so many dunderheads out there.
I will say, though, that this time when I was in the hospital, no one rolled their eyes when I told them I have fibro. On the whiteboard, under "Good care for me means..." someone actually wrote: "Pain control - Fibromyalgia." I didn't need any pain control (though now I do) but it was nice to know I wouldn't get "that look" if I had to have it.

You are having financial problems and the advice is to eat more organic foods. That's crazy. And how does she expect you to pay for it? I would love to eat more organic food but I could only do that if I lived in a box under a bridge.

I do have to say that my memory is somewhat better since I quit taking Ambien CR. I still take Soma and trazodone to get to sleep.
