Hi, Debbie,
Midrin actually works differently everytime I take it. Most of the time it works to some extent. Occasionally it doesn't work at all. It's really weird actually. First thing I noticed is, it's not worth my time to take only one at onset. If I take 2 on an empty stomach, it can work in like 15 minutes (which is most of the time, actually - who can eat with a true migraine??). Pain is gone but I feel like somewhat of a space cadet. But I can work thru that. Just have to pay more attention. If I take it in the middle of the day when I've eaten, it's a crap shoot. It will either work (after like 2 HOURS!!) or it won't work at all. What sucks about
when it doesn't work?? There's not much I can do after that except wait it out till the next day when I can start over with a different kind of migraine medication. I've actually got a laundry list of migraine medications at my disposal but the only one I use religiously is the midrin so that's why I listed that one.
Karen, I've done the strong coffee/excidrin bit. Trouble with that for me, I only get like 2 hours relief with it and it comes right back. After all that asprin/caffiene, you have to wait till the next day to try something else. I gave that route the good college try, like several times. Learned my lesson the hard way
