Hi, ldyd, and welcome! I'm so glad you found us and joined in. We have a wonderful group of people on this forum that love to help one another and, as a bonus, really care about each other, too! I think you will like it here.
I have the tender scalp issue, too. I do get my hair done but I told her to use the pads of her fingers instead of her nails on my scalp! She would scrub with her nails as I was scrunching down in the chair. It felt like my scalp would be bleeding after she got done with me! You just have to train your beautician!
I'm so glad to see that you are starting to walk again! That's wonderful. That has helped me a lot. I had to start out slowly but built my stamina up and now I can walk pretty far. I start out my day walking my dog for at least a mile. I don't feel like doing it but I know I will feel better by the time I get back home plus I have more energy, too. I also swim for exercise. If you have access to a pool, that is wonderful for fibro. Any GENTLE exercise is good for fibro.
I see Pam directed you to Fibro 101. There are links to good info about fibromyalgia there and you will learn a lot. There are links to some good stretching exercises that do help, link to symptoms, and also links to info about Vitamin D3 and also Malic Acid/Magnesium supplements. I do use both of these and they have helped me with my pain and fatigue. The links will explain it all to you and how these things work in your body.
You will find what works for one might not work for another for people with fibro but we have great suggestions for you to try, with your doctor's okay, and I think you will find what works for you to help control the pain. I use ibuprofen with food and extra strength Tylenol along with the vitamins and supplements I just mentioned to help me. Add the gentle exercise and I do have control of the pain.
I'm happy you have joined our family. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. I'm looking forward to getting to know you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
