Hi ldyd, welcome to the family!! I think there are a bunch of us that have that very sensitive head thing going on. Since I was a little girl, my head has been soooo sensitive. If my hair was long and I had a ponytail, as I let it out at night it hurt! If I moved my part from left to right, it hurt! I couldn't stand headbands or clips, I had to take them out of my hair. I had long curly hair and my DM would just pull that comb thru like we in some major rush. Oh the pain!! She never got how much that hurt, her hair is straight, my father would always do it so gently - he had curly hair and 'got it'.
I have had my hair really long the past few yrs, after having it very short for almost 30 yrs. Last month I decided to change from my long white hair to a shorter white hair 'do'. I told the girl I would like it to about my chin, she measured my hair and said that would be about 16in to come off, would I be interested in donating it to make wigs for cancer patients. I hadn't even thought of that, I immediately said yes. Since there were no chemicals or such in the hair, and it was such a light color, she felt it would be perfect for a child's wig. The two of us got very emotional about this whole thing. We even hugged as I was leaving. All I could think of was my mother after her breast cancer treatment and our three wonderful ladies here on the forum who are so bravely dealing w/ cancer.
I don't let the ppl at the shop 'set' my hair, they wash or wet my hair, cut and I go home and wash, condition and blow dry. I can't deal w/ the pressure someone else may use on my head. I have had almost endless headaches the past couple of months so I don't need extra touching or pressure on my head. I let my hair air dry for about an hr, then I use the blowdryer to 'try' to make my hair do what I want! HA HA! If one spot of my head/hair is touched too much it feels like the hair is cutting into my scalp.
You are not alone. Hope you're having a good day!
God bless. Alice.
