KristaM
I got fibro in 2006. I was on a walking stick at a young 51yo for nearly 2 years. I took Lyrica and IT went away, or rather, I was in remission, and I threw away the walking stick and I was normal! I don't need to tell you about the pain - it was 12 or 13 out of ten. Then in 2009 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and IT (sorry, I know we're not supposed to use capitals) returned. I've stared Lyrica again with great results. Sure I get dizzie, but it beats Tramadol. It beats sitting all day.
I live downunder, and I've planted spring herbs and I'm thinking of tomatoes - do I dare? Yes!
Easy to say I know, but I sat from 9th May 2010 til 30th Aug 2010 and I decided it was enough. I went back on Lyrica. Today I went to the big honcho Rhuemy in out state and he has said stop the Serapax gradually, increase Lyrica from 150mg to 75mg in the am and 150mg note.
Be patient and listen to your body, and find a good team - yes team of health guys around you.
You know. I had a particularly bad experience today I would like to share with you guys. This Rhuemy, big honcho, such a lovely guy ($265 per 15 minutes guys!). He diagnosed a bone break in my ulna from about 20 years ago, in the elbow. You know, the violent marriage won't leave me alone. First there was the knee surgery, then the jaw (twenty years later I discover I had a broken jaw and didn't know it), and now the left side of my body has got numbing and tingling.
That marriage. My husband was a millionaire. We lived in a mansion with a live-in nanny/housekeeper. We owned boat, properties, business, blah, blah, blah. The Prince of Darkness, that's what he was. Just when I thought I was recovering, I find another bone that has been broken by him. It still hurts. I sometimes think, that's why I got fibro - oh, sure I had an MVA but ...
Anyway, what I wanted to say to you was, that what Sherrine (Fibro 101) advised me to do, was - ask the drug companies. They have what's called a Compassion Supply. I wrote to them and they agreed to supply. But I'm using this current source of a specialist doctor at the main state hospital's supply first. Saves me, $75 per month. And let's face it, the Ozzie dollar is about even with the US dollar at the moment! It must be time for me to visit. I've got my visa forms ready to sign, as we speak.
Goodluck with your dosage KristaM.
PS BTW I could use some advice from a moderator about my dosages.
Gentle Hugs
