Sorry for the long absence....

I have been busy with school and doctor appointments along with trying to get moved to a better place then the AiP dorms. I just recently had a tons of blood work done, a cat scan, and an EMG. Next Thursday I go in for the final test which is a muscle biopsy of the Left Hip Flexor. I am really frightened that they will find something. My dr. says that if the test comes back normal then I have fibro and if it comes back abnormal, well I have something alot worse. I just hope either way I can finally get a diagnosis and begin treatment. I aslo have been put on two pills that slows the onset of the major pain and headaches: Tramadol and Butalb-Apap-Caff (more commonly known as Fioricet). All it really does is prevent the major pains from happening until later in the day but the time in which it normally hits is getting earlier so I am afraid I am building up a tolerance, if so I am glad I had at least a brief period of relief.

Wow that really feels good to get off my chest. Again I do apologize for the long absence.

Hi, Torden, and welcome back!  You are going through all the crummy testing now but try not to be too worried.  I think we all have felt we have other major things going on but it turns out we don't.  I hope that happens with you too.  You are doing the right thing...getting completely checked out to rule out other problems.

 

Check out Fibro 101 if you haven't already.  You just might see yourself there.  Let us know what you find out because we do care about you.

Yea I have checked out Fibro 101 when I first got here. It really helped me out. I also hope that it is just fibro as well because cancer and other illnesses do run in my family so I have to be careful. But over all I do have hope thanks to a loving and carrying roommate and friend that is supporting me throughout this entire ordeal. And thank you all so much for your support and care.


Status Update: Overall weakness continues, can no longer walk with crutches without falling or nearly falling; need safer method of travel. Going to ask dr. if a wheelchair would be possible.

Symptoms: Migraines, aching/stabbing pain all over, extreme weakness in both legs and growing weakness in the arms, light sensitive, pain in the eyes (due to light), unable to tolerate heat/cold, problems with memory and at times speech, fatigue, sleeping problems, depression, numbness and tingling, bad mood swings (my friend finds it annoying but he still supports me), light headness, dizziness, vertigo, sensitive to sound, night sweats, out of breath alot, dry eyes and mouth, depression of course, and well alternating bowel problems. I think that covers my symptoms I may have missed a few not sure.
