Hi

I was wounderin If any one has ever linked lyrica with the start of their twitching or noticed worsening of twitching
Same for cramping.
I think I am too sensitive to these meds. Because
I can directly link worsening after new medicines.
The first night I took 50 mg of lyrica at bed time
Next morning I woke up with painfull twinges in arms and legs ( not new but worse) and wierd buZing in both eat lobes.
Then more and more of twitchig and cramping but I continued taking lyric since I didn't know at that time that could be the problem.

Haven't taken it since 2006 but this year I took 2 mg Valium. Once in a while not daily. Took may be 6 all together but now notice myoclonus jerks even when awake. Ise to happen as falling asleep.

So I know antidepressants and antiphysicotic s can cause
Muscle movement disorders. So that's scary that you go to help a problem and it can make it worse.

Hi Tulip sorry you are having these side effects. I have never tried Lyraca but I do take valium to help me sleep at night. I get those myoclonus jerks too but have had them even when Im not taking valium. We are all so different in how our bodies react to different meds. I dont know how they are ever going to find a medication that we can all tolerate. I hope you will find something that you can take soon.

I was on Lyrica for several months and all it did for me was keep me awake even more so and made my personality change to the Wicked Witch of the West.

I still have not found anything that keeps me asleep for more than one or two hours at a time. I take Lorcet and Soma. But the doctor won't let me take take more than 3 of the hydrocodone (spelling?) and only 1.5 tablets of the muscle relaxer. I have pain in the a.m. and can't take anything or I run out by the end of the month or I stay up until 3 a.m. because I can't get to sleep. Sometimes my legs jerk so much, I just get up and walk for awhile. No antidepressants work for me, and some of the tablets made me dizzy and nauseous, and the constipation is rough. I have gained 23 lbs in 2 years.

Hi there,

I've been on lyrica for about 2 weeks now and I've had a bit of the twitching. The worst of it is the pills are causing me alot of dizziness and brain fog...worse than normal. They are not doing much for pain so far, maybe a bit, but not alot. I'm only on 50mg 3x daily and I am supposed to double the dosage very soon. Hope you find something that works for you soon!

I used to take Lyrica (75 mg twice a day) It was a dream come true until I built up a tolerance. My doc tried to increase the dose but I started seeing things in fast forward (visual disturbance) so eventually b/c it was no longer helping my pain I had to go off of it - the withdrawals were very unpleasant.....night sweats, nausea, chills, outbursts of foul language that I do not normally use, very easily irritated and on edge.

  I was on lyrica for a while before my pregancy and after could not take lyrica while i was pregant, but once i went back on the lyrica 75mg 3x day my derpression became worse and then you mix post-partum in and i was a whacked out mess with a new baby!  I felt horrible it was a long battle back from this medicine i no longer take. I have alot of twitching also mine has been going on since i was first diagnoised in 2004, ringing of the ears, night sweats, bad periods, all the horrible things that go along with this disease.  have had alot of bad luck with anti-depressents i am taking lexapro it seems to help somewhat, but i have to push myself each and everyday and really sucks to be a new mom and have these problems, i feel my son is being cheated out of  having a good mother! My trigger is stress and boy do i stress, it is so hard to relax when your husband gets laid off from work alot and money is tight!!

I was on Lyrica for about 5 weeks. The twitching started the first part of the second week. By the time I had numerous other symptoms, (brain fog, extreme fatigue, poor balance, plus some) and decided i could not take it the "twitching" got worse. Without warning, I would be sitting and my hand would point straight out or slap my face, my head would jerk to one side or the other, my leg would kick straight out. Not all at the same time or course but several times a day.  I must remind you though that each of of responds differently to medication and i would never tell someone to take something (or not) because of the reactions I did or did not have.  I wouldn't even say anything but I get the feeling that you are wanting to know if you are the only one that the twitching happens to. Maybe let your doctor know and decide from there if it is for you or not.  I will check this post off and on to see what you end up doing. Hopefully, you will be able to say that it is working wonderfully for you and that your pain in reduced.

I am fairly new to this site so I apologize to everyone if I have overstepped any bounds. Please feel free to tell me so I don't speak out so bluntly again. Hugs.

I've been on Lyrica 75mg am and pm for a few weeks now, and felt really good, even though I had some pain breakthrough. Then I went to a Rheumy and he increased the nighttime dose to 150mg. I woke up the next morning at 6.00am and looked like Meg Ryan with too much botox. When my throat and tongue felt strange I decided to phone an after hours doctor. She said if you don't phone an ambulance get someone to go to the pharmacy and get some antihistamines - which I did. Then I ceased the extra 75mg a night. Scary! Definitely an allergic reaction, diagnosed over the phone by two docs. My wonderful family doc is on sabbatical and I can't see him for a few weeks - can't wait to see him. I'm managing now on 150mg per day, but I still have to wrap myself in cotton wool - I would still like to live more, but I could handle this, if I had to. I eat like a vegan, take about 15-18 vitamins and minerals every day, see physios, pain psychs, and do Tai Chi when I can. If I have a medical appointment in one day, that's my total activity for the day - apart from getting dinner. If I go shopping, that's me for the day (I now shop on-line). I've resigned myself to what I did in one day, I now do over a week - it's not too bad.

I read a link recommended by Sherrine, and it said that fibroites take issue with personal growth and self-image. I think that is true for me. Over the 4 years since diagnosis, those two issues have taken a lot of my internal attention, whereas getting dressed and making one appointment a day are the external areas which need attention daily.

When we're diagnosed with a chronic illness as we all are here, I think our personal growth and self-image are challenged and need to be addressed, as much as the routine and mechanical challenges. Does anyone else feel the same?
