Hello all, First, just want to thank all of you for helping me with all the questions in the past. It has been insightful. I have and injured disc, and Fibro. I have been on and off all kinds of different pain meds. At my last app. they seem to really have a problem with me taking a moderate dose of Vicodan, and gave me something new called Embeda. It's supposed to to be longer acting. Does anyone here have any experience, or know anything about it? Thanks.

I googled it because I have never heard of it.  This is something brand new.  It's a type of time-released morphine and should only be used if you need strong pain relief all of the time.  You only take this once or twice a day.  It can cause problems so that you can't drive, constipation, and a few other goodies but most narcotics are like that.  Here is the link I read.  It sounds promising for those that REALLY need it!  I'm happy that they are working on other meds for people that suffer from chronic pain.

I have read a little on the web about it, but have not heard or read anything specific as to how it works for Fibro patients. I am on day 2 now, seems to work well. But most of everything new I try does at first, but doesn't usually end so well. It was a rainy day here in Cleveland, the type I usually dread....The pain was noticeably less, but still there. Also, it's a real even type of feeling. Doesn't creep up on you, or hit you heavy at first. Thanks for the replys.

It seems that your body gets used to the narcotics and then you need more of them.  That's a big problems.  Maybe this won't happen to you.

 

Starrman, I used to live in the Cleveland area and my fibro was bad.  The rain, the fronts that go through there all of the time, and the lack of sunshine in the winter does a number on you.  Just keep on moving.  That's the best thing for you.

I have grown to hate the Cleveland weather. Thinking about the Winter, and all the pain and cold that goes along with it is a horrible thought. Being on various pain meds for so long, I know what you mean. I'm already ready to get off this Embeda after spending all day in pain, laying in bed. I just don't know how to deal with the pain. Thanks for the encouragement.
