I have been having a pain in my right upper side that goes around to my back.  I feel like its on fire and my skin does feel hot to the touch.  I went to the Dr. today and was told that my ultrasound only showed a fatty liver.  Has anyone here ever had this kind of pain.  I've had this for 2 years now but in the past two weeks its worse.  I'm concerned its more and would like more tests done, like a cat scan or something, but I have an allergy to the dye.  I have kids and take care of kids and feel like I can't function due to this.  I can't imagine what this pain is.  All I keep getting is vicodin for the pain, and even that doesn't take it away.  What do you think?

I think they need to do more tests! How long have you had this? I would go back and tell them that you can't function at all due to this pain. Hope you get an answer soon!

I have burning back and rib cage pain also but it is not hot to the touch.  My entire rib cage 'pulls', stings and burns and my back tingles and burns.  Don't know if it is drug w/d or fibro...neither/both.  I understand your frustration and wish I had an answer.

Have you had your gallbladder checked? Gallbladder pain starts in the right

upper quandrant and will wrap itself around to the back. The pain can feel like

burning pain.

Hope the docs will figure it out and you can get some relief!

I agree with Krista, they need to do more testing especially due to the fact that it is hot to the touch. Hope you get some answers soon.

Thank you all for the messages. I spent Fri. night in the er they did a cat scan and found nothing again. It makes me feel like I'm crazy or something. I know how bad the pain is but they can't find the cause. I did find out I have an enlarged liver. It makes me feel like giving up on doctors. The only thing left is exploratory surgery to check for endometriosis. I have had my gall bladder out years ago. Again thanks so much.

This is actually similar to the first pain I felt that sent me to the doctor for diagnosis. When I first went in, I felt like my kidney was being squeezed in someone's fist. They sent me to have an ultrasound to check for kidney stones, but the result was negative. The pain continued for about 3 weeks before I went for a second opinion. At the second appointment I was told that I had fibro and the pain was being caused by severe muscle spasms that had dug deep enough to literally SQUEEZE my kidney! There was little relief from anything, including vicodin. The only help I found was finding the most comfortable position to lay, HEATING PAD, and I was on Robaxin(muscle relaxers)/ The robaxin helped more than the vicodin. If this is the same problem that you were having, it will ease up, but for me it seems to come back if I get severely stressed! I hope you get to feeling better soon!!

I noticed that when I'm stressed it does hurt worse then ever. I have been checked for kidney stones and everything else it feels like. Thanks alot for the advice. I tryed a flexeral last nite it seemed to help a little.
