Having a bad day

I have been having symptoms since I was 17 years old.  I am now 36.  I have went to doctor after doctor and they run the standard blood work but never can find anything wrong with me.  Its always depression or weight related.  I have a 12 year old, an 8 year old and an 18 year old daughter, I am a stay at home mom, and I baby sit for my best friends 7 and 4 year old little girls.   I have alot of people that depend on me.  I always feel like I can't let them down, and feel at the same time I can't inconvenience or ask for help from anyone myself.   Over the past 5 years I feel that I've gotten worse.  There are days I feel like I can't move 1 more step.  I'm tired and week all the time.  I feel so guilty over this.  I feel like I'm letting my kids and husband down.  My mom comes to help me sometimes and when she gets ready to go home I feel like I panic.  I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which makes me sad, I kept thinking that I'd find out what I had and the doctor could just fix it, that I wouldn't have to keep going on like this.  I still feel that I have more then Fibro.  The only time I felt "normal" in the past was when I was given prednisone.  I felt like I could function.  When I feel like this I feel I need to be in the hospital, that bad.  I feel dumb at the same time, people look at me wierd when I say I don't feel good.  They say you look fine.  I felt for a long time that I had lupus but my blood work came back fine for that.   Why is it that people act like fibromyalgia isn't an illness that it some psycological problem, atleast thats what I've ran into.  I'm sorry for going on and on I'm just feeling crappy today.  I feel bad today and know I have tons to do and no way out of it.  It doesn't help that I have this constant right side and back pain.  They haven't found anything except an enlarged liver to explain that.  They give me a new rx for vicodin everytime I complain about it.  With taking care of kids I can't take that very much, so I live with the pain.  I've had this pain for 2 years but the past 2 weeks its been worse to where I feel like I can't take it, but I've had an ultrasound and a catscan that have showed nothing.   

Domanique, I am concerned about you taking vicodin with an enlarged liver...
that is scarey. How can a doc write out a script for that med knowing you have an
enlarged liver? That seems criminal to me !

I do hope you can find another doctor...someone who can get to the bottom of
this. There are many reasons for an enlarged liver but throwing vicodin at you
is crazy to say the least. Please see someone who will systematically go through
all the possibilities to check what is wrong. You should not suffer needlessly.

I agree that fibro does not get the respect it deserves, but the word is slowly
getting out there. I've always said that my connective tissue diseases can be
really scarey at times because they are systemic but it is the fibromyalgia that
gives me the horrible pain.

Hoping you can find answers soon and get the pain relief you deserve!

I'm new here so I don't have a bunch of advice, but I can relate to your panic over your mom leaving. My in-laws live next door to us and whenever they are over to help out its so nice, but when they leave I get panic-y because I know its all up to me now. I'm also a SAHM to a 7yo and a 22m old. Its hard to be a mom and have fibro.

Hi there, perhaps they should do more bloodwork right now if you are in a "flare". Lupus doesn't always show up positive if you aren't in a flare at the time of bloodwork. Also, please stay away from prednisone...it's really bad for your bones and you don't need more problems! I think you need to find a new doctor.
