uncomfortable sweater...

I feel kind of silly, but I spent my lunch hour buying a new top to wear back to work. I went to work this morning wearing a red sweater. By lunch time, I could was ready to strip off that sweater as soon as possible. I went to a clothing store and bought a new cotton top and wore it out of the store.  The sweater is now in the trash.  Anyone else have this experience?  The sweater was just SO uncomfortable.  It is hard to explain, but it was painful to have it against my skin.  I guess this is the fibro...???

You're not alone here! I could write a book about all my clothing problems! This is something we've talked about a lot on the forum...nice to meet you, by the way. I can't wear most fabrics. My daughters say, "can't you put up with a little discomfort to look good?" Well, no. I can't...and I won't! I have spent hours looking for something somewhat serious, (say for a funeral) because I can't stand clothes that are slinky (cold,) acrylic or wool (itchy,) form-fitting (eech!) or heavy. Basically, that means I have to find a cotton-type dressyish turtleneck at least half of the year, and that's not easy.

I am another one who is real fussy about what I can wear. I have to have loose shirts, sports bra's and I love blue jeans. My daughter has told me already that when she gets married i have to dress up for her wedding. Wonder if dressing up includes blue jeans. lol

Yes, I really need to be comfortable. Heels? Forget it! Unless I want to suffer with back pain for days afterwards! And I can not wear long sleeve shirts to bed. Even if they are not tight and are very comfortable...the circulation gets cut off in my arms guaranteed if I have a long sleeve shirt. And now, I'm having issues with purses because my neck shoulders and collarbone are so sore. Feels like I have bricks in my purse, but really my purse is pretty light! Very frustrating!

I did this with a pair of shoes just last week! had special shoes that were suppose to be comfortable and they had these special little massxaging things at the arch.. well, i put them on adn after walking for awhile, they had to go. went to walmart found some comfie slip ons and the others went in to the garbage! My sister was laughing at me caus she didnt realize the agony i was truly in!

cool  Oh, we are such sensitive flowers, aren't we?  I can't even wear jewelry most of the time, because it's heavy, cold, or infects my ears.  My daughters hate to go shoe-shopping with me because I will only buy them shoes with support, non-slippery soles, and preferably, backs.  And definitely no heels higher than about 2 inches. 

I don't think I have worn high heels in 30 years.  And my feet are very wide across the toes, so I pretty much have to order them. 

Krista, I know what you mean about purses...I usually only carry my whole purse if I'm going to be able to stick it in a shopping cart...otherwise, I put my wallet and essential stuff (kleenex, pills, keys) in my pockets.  Gone are the days of looking cool!  eyes

Thanks for all your input, everyone. At least I know I am not alone! I forgot to tell you that I bought 3 of those cotton long-sleeve shirts that are so comfortable. If I find something comfortable, I usually buy two. In this case, I bought three!

I have too agree some clothes drive me mad. I can not wear so many things my daughter is going to have fun finding some thing nice wear to her wedding next year. Wool is out I can not stand that anywhere near my skin. The same thing with a lot opf the man made fibers. The wedding will be in our fall. [May] So it will interesting trying to find that out fit plus the shoes. It will be a garden wedding so flat shoes are the go.

I always put my arm up the sleeve of any coats etc and if it annoys my arm I kow not to buy it.

I don't have problem with fabrics, its the pressure on my skin. I cannot wear anything that touches my neck since I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 8 years ago. V-neck and low cut neck shirts only, but nothing tight. I cannot stand any type of coldness (air, water, ice water) since three years ago. Now it's the constant hot flashes (I'm too young for menopuase) that are simply driving me crazy!!!
