Does Anyone have more trouble with fibro around their time of the month!

Hello all females i have a question about fibro does anyone seem to feel more crapy and have bad flares around this time? Please help with any advise!!!

hi carrie, im sorry to hear you have alot of probs around the time of the month.

i cant help you with your problems tho, because after some problems, i have had an endometrium ablasion and no longer have periods and can never have any babies. enough of me moaning.

i hope the pain eases off soon.

Hello Carrie,
I have the same problem! Im thinking about asking my doctor if it would be a good idea for me to try the seasonique birth control. That way you only have 3 periods a year. Something to look into anyway. When this happens to me I make sure to take my vitamins and force myself to move a little bit at least. If I don't get moving I end up feeling worse. Other than that I do not have much advice. Sorry :/ I hope you get everything worked out though! I feel your pain!

Hey Carrie, yes I've had the same problem. A week before my period, I had an attack that lasted for 4 days with no relief. I mentioned this to my doctor and he said that was very common because of hormone levels changing at that time.

OMG, Yes!! EVERYTHING hurts during PMS, and I am completely exhausted. It makes me that much more irritable than usual. I actually warn people to please not take it personally. There are months where my PMS alone lasts ten days, and I hurt so bad I can't sleep. I assume it's from the hormones. Motrin and my heating pad are my best friends during that time... as well as my bed.

Thanks to all! I have been in alot of pain with the pms today, which wheather does not help it is cold and raining here and that just makes me more sore and stiff. I have been very down these last two days, but i have a 20 month old and that is impossible to lay and rest or even sit and rest! Not an option! I would like to know if everyone thinks horomones are a big part of our problem with the fibro? Thanks for all advise!!

I absolutely think hormones play a big part with the Fibro! I know that each month right before my period my pain gets worse, I get horrible Fibro Fog and I sit there completely out of it and moaning that this is the worst it's ever been. My husband now just laughs when I say that because he says that I say that every month. I am horrible about keeping a journal/log so I can never remember. Our bodies do a very good job of making us forget the horrible pain we experience.

In the last year I had to switch birth controls to try to shrink a uterine fibroid and that made the pain flare, switching back to my original pill (the other one didn't shrink the fibroid) brought another flare, coming off the bc two months ago yet another flare. My body still hasn't gotten back to re-regulating itself quite yet so I'm not sure how the hormones will play a part now that I'm off, but I have a feeling the pain will persist with the change in hormones.

fibrodepressionmom, I saw that you have a 20 month old. I know this isn't what the topic is about, but can I ask how your pregnancy was? My husband and I were hoping to begin trying soon. This has been postponed due to my health (having to undergo testing again, hopefully only to find out it's all Fibro and then we'll get the go ahead) but I am curious to find out how your Fibro was during and after the pregnancy.

Hello frankey my pregnancy was very good, but was not planned!!! I was sent this bundle of joy to get me back on the right path.  I had alot of painful days especially when i got farther along with the pregnancy. I weighed 112 pounds when i found out i was 5 wks. along, by the time i was full term i weighed 146 pounds and looked and felt better than i had ever felt in my life. It is such blessing to get to go through this, because so many people struggle with getting pregnant and it happened so easily for me and that is why i feel blessed from god each and everyday for my miracle that i call "Blaine" everyday.

I was 2 weeks early and he still weighed 7lbs 21 1/4 inches long and i was in labor for 49 hours straight and worth every hour. If you decide to keep trying it will be the best decision that you could ever make for you and your family.

  Hello All:

I am adding to this post again i have had to lay down these last two days which is not normal for me. I try not to take naps during the day so i will sleep better at night, but as i posted on this subject eariler during my periods i feel like i have been railroaded. Luckily my husband was home and i could lay down and take naps, i did sleep well, but i do not have alot of energy today, because of all the laying.  I am trying to get back into the grove of things. Does anyone think that i should see a obgyn doc. to see if she or he can help with my monthly problems? Thanks for any advise!

Hi Carrie, I have to say that seeing an obgyn would be an excellant idea. Sometimes it is not always the fibro. I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago because of such heavy bleeding. I do not regret it at all. You never know when there might be more going on with your body so it is always better to get it checked out. I hope maybe he has some answers for you that will help your time of month to not be so horrendous.

I have been having vaginal pain the week before my menstrual cycle starts and during it. It almost feels like it's inflamed. It's so painful. I called my fibro dr. the other day and she told me to call my gyno. It's embarrassing. Sometimes the pain gets so bad that I have a hard time walking. Does anyone else deal with this?

Yes, I do. I get a lot of pain and my lower back feels like it is going to break. I am hoping now that I have started Savella this will help reduce the discomfort I endure each month. This will be my first month getting my period and being on Savella. I can barely walk everytime I get my period. My symptoms seem to worsen during this time. Counting on Savella. I will let you know.

I experience worse irritability, headaches, tiredness, insomnia and hypersomnia, and worst of all IBS symptoms starting 5-7 days before my period. Sometimes I switch to an all-liquid diet for a few days in order to be able to, ahem, function at work. My neurologist, who did wonders to help me with vascular headaches, recommended taking Advil or Aleive starting 4 days before my row of white birth control pills regardless of if I had a headache yet. I also experience vaginal pain (note-not vulva pain) and have been considering talking to my MD about switching to Seasonique as well. Anyone who has switched, please let us know if it has helped.

I was (am?) a lymie, I experience horrible periods, all what I used to call "lyme" symptoms which now i can call 'fibro" systems flare, so basically when I have a period (Iam 49) I have at least 2 weeks of hell, one what we lymies call herx, and the other my period. If I was still 41 and going through the hell i went through I would try a low dose birth control pill. Good luck, its hard.

I had my Dr. visit lastnight. I have to have an ultrasound in 3 weeks and if everything looks normal they are going to burn the inside of my uterus to that my menstrual cycle won't be so heavy. I'm hoping it helps. The one thing that doesn't make sense to me though is that my pain starts before my menstrual cycle so I'm not sure how this will help. I'm going to ask about going on the pill where I will only have a few periods a year. He didn't offer it and I'm wondering if it's because I'm 46.
